Brooklyn NY — Dark practitioners of haunting rock ‘n roll, KABUKI LOVE recently released their latest offering “The Wolf Dance” ahead of the oncoming autumnal season.
Speaking to the songs themes, vocalist and bandleader Rima N. states, “Like all the songs I write/compose, it always starts with the melody. It usually happens when I am casually playing on my guitar and start improvising. Then something really catchy or touchy (at least to me) comes out and if I really feel it, I know it’s a keeper.”
“´The Wolf Dance´ took shape like that. Some good notes, chords, and a good riff….then I had to save it to my phone and so I came up with the random name ‘The Wolf Dance’. I always kind of name my songs intuitively, the same way I play them, it’s all a download. I actually started writing it not too long after ‘Howling’ so the Wolf imagery was probably still present in my mind. Once I had the whole song structure layered on the guitar and the vocal melody shaped, I wrote the lyrics. For me it’s always melody first, lyrics after; and since I had the title ´The Wolf Dance’ already, I wrote around that theme.
It’s abstract and could be interpreted many ways (like all of my songs) but the imagery of the wolf dance is depicting a mal intended person (or group of people), using power and lies to their advantage for success in life. The same way the imagery of the Wolf has been interpreted by humans for centuries. That being said, when it comes to the actual animals/real wolves, I do like them and believe they are pure creatures and deserve a better understanding and wildlife protection, like all living creatures!”
Kabuki Love is a rock project born in Brooklyn during the 2020 pandemic, lead by Rima N. (Original founder, guitar, vocals).
Sometimes dark, sometimes light, its influences comes from many genres such as goth, new wave, punk, alternative, post punk and grunge.
Multi dimensional, melancholic and catchy at the same time, Kabuki Love captures the essence of the current times chaos through haunting guitars and vocals.
