The Cocks are a Los Angeles-based gay glam-punk rock band known for high-energy, provocative anthems like “It’s Better Being Gay” and “Being a Fag (In a RNR Band)”. Fronted by vocalist Zsa (Jay Sosnicki), the lineup features guitarist Tchad Drats, bassist Jason Halogen, and drummer Mike McCormick.
Most queer bands suffer from some type of queer exceptionalism, striving to be the very best in their genre and not just “good for a gay band,” while at the same time, working hard to spread an important message about the struggles against internalized and externalized homophobia. The Cocks, on the other hand, don’t worry about any of that and just have a whole lot of fun.
The band originally started as a happy accident, when a friend of vocalist Jay Sosnicki, aka Zsa, needed an original score for a short film. They had so much fun being a joke band for a movie that they decided to be a joke band for real.
The Cocks new studio album “Endless Hummer” is fun, punky with plenty of rock and of course there is a comedic value that does not go unnoticed.
One thing is for sure… they’re songs, lyrics, titles and slogans are catchy and clever as all get out… they also play this stuff as tight as any well-seasoned punk band on the circuit.
The Cocks have released their super summer sing-a-long “Endless Hummer” which is now available on all platforms.
The band’s got some history too… The Cocks have the better part of 20 years under their speedos with full records, tours, and they’ve shared the stage and studio with some legendary names including; The Dickies, The Dead Boys and The Circle Jerks to name a few.
