The Chicago metal scene is mourning the devastating loss of guitarist Shaun Glass. A fixture since the 1980s, Glass was far more than just an amazing player; he was a foundational thread in the community’s fabric.
His prolific career saw him leave his mark on seminal bands like Sindrome, Broken Hope, SOIL, and Dirge Within. Most recently, he fueled the primal aggression of Repentance, a band celebrated for its heavy, groovy, and intensely dynamic sound that earned them tours with acts like Trivium and Jinjer.
But beyond the riffs and the stage, Shaun Glass was remembered by friends as a loving father and husband, a man who genuinely cared for others. His passing leaves a profound silence where once there was immense talent and heartfelt camaraderie.
Our deepest sympathies extend to his family, his countless friends, and all his bandmates over the decades. Shaun’s legacy is etched into the very history of Chicago metal, and he will be fiercely missed.
