ALL NEW MKULTRASOUND PodCast with Singer-Songwriter and Pianist Nadia Kodes 6/14/2026

with Alex Zander and Melita Z

Nadia Kodes, a Russian singer-songwriter and pianist, hitchhiked more than 20,000 km across Europe. Originally from St. Petersburg, her extensive time on the road directly shaped her lifestyle and her dark, cinematic, piano-based rock sound. Her recent music is heavily rooted in her nomadic experiences and personal reinvention.

Kodes gained an international audience in 2017 after releasing an acoustic cover of the goth-metal band Type O Negative’s song “Anesthesia”. It was well-received by the band’s camp and led to her tribute album Acoustic Rust.

Mixed and mastered by Igor Smirnov, Acoustic Rust captures a sonic clarity that allows Kodes’ classical foundation and vocal nuance to take center stage. The project stands as both tribute and transformation—an interpretation that expands the emotional vocabulary of the original works.
Her 2024 album “Pitch Dark, Red Light” and viral tracks like “Traitor” focus heavily on overcoming fear, finding freedom on the road, and personal statements of independence.
Her original material further reflects this duality. Her latest single, “Thank You,” — which features Francesco DiCosmo, the bassist who recorded on Evanescence’s Fallen — subtly nods to her influences while carving out a distinct voice, and she is currently working on her forthcoming album Duality, which promises to expand on the emotional and sonic themes introduced in Acoustic Rust.
