One Leg One Eye is the solo project of Ian Lynch (founding member of experimental folk Irish group Lankum) and live member George Brennan. Begun in 2021, it explores submerged leylines of music and song and draws on the raw aesthetics of black metal, folk, noise and drone while also being deeply imbued with a sense of Irish history and myth.
Over the course of a year, Lynch enjoyed the freedom of experimenting and exploring different paths of sound design without expectation or pressure. Seeking out interesting settings to record music and gather field recordings, he explored rediscovered spaces in Dublin and familiar interior spaces. He frequently visited the abandoned warehouse where his father had worked and sang with his shruti box, content in his solitude.
The result was ‘…And Take The Black Worm With Me’, an album with a distinct and sometimes harrowing drone-folk atmosphere conjured throughout its lengthy and enveloping compositions, an eerily beautiful sadness resonating throughout. Widely praised upon release in a long sold out CD pressing on Nyahh Records in 2022, Cold Spring now presents this incredible album with an exclusive bonus track, ‘Sympathetic Invertebrate Ritual’, that was recorded especially for this new edition.
