Social Abyss – BREAK the chain single + Tour w/ Dawn of Ashes [industrial]

“BREAK the chain,” the latest single from Social Abyss, is a powerful anthem challenging the listener to resist the pervasive influence of societal programming. Released on January 16, 2026, this track continues the themes explored in their previous release, “MIND CONTROL,” by shining a light on how institutions, government, and social media shape our perceptions and emotions, often instilling division and hate.

With its dynamic blend of industrial, goth, cyberpunk, and electronic sounds, the Albuquerque-based act defies traditional genre boundaries,  incorporating elements of UK garage and EDM to create a unique dark clubbing experience. Through thought-provoking lyrics and innovative club-ready soundscapes, Social Abyss invites listeners to question the status quo and break free from the chains of societal constraints. “BREAK the chain” is not just a song—it’s a rallying cry for empowerment and self-awareness in an increasingly controlled world.

Hailing from the raw, rebellious roots of Denver’s punk scene in the early ’80s as drummer for pioneering local punk band Society Treatment Plan, Dave Dangerman carved a bold path through the underground alternative music scene. Opening for such acts as the legendary Violent Femmes, Society Treatment Plan helped set the stage for an era of experimentation and non-conformity.

By the mid-’80s, Society Treatment Plan migrated to Los Angeles — where they helped shape the burgeoning industrial music scene as founding members of the influential band FACTORY.
Sharing stages with iconic bands such as Skinny Puppy, Drowning Pool, Jane’s Addiction and other pioneering alternative artists, FACTORY became a driving force in LA’s alternative scene, merging aggression with innovation. They became known for their unpredictable and improvisational shows.

After the breakup of FACTORY, Dave co-founded the experimental project Worm Voltage with former singer/bass player Don Diego of goth rock band Death Ride 69.

Today, his solo project Social Abyss blends decades of musical rebellion into a forward-thinking sound  — drawing from the experimental fringes of underground darkwave, industrial, cyberpunk, techno and goth dance music. With pulsating beats, shadowy atmospheres, and electronic soundscapes that merge the past with the future, Social Abyss pushes the boundaries of alternative music.
