Los Angeles CA — Punk rock troublemakers THE COCKS are back with a new single that is already raising eyebrows, blood pressure, and community-guideline flags on at least three platforms: “Being a Fag (In a Rock ’n Roll Band)”— a punk broadside bold enough to reclaim a slur and deliver a full-throated, Slade-style sing-along that somehow includes the word ‘ampersand.’”
A slamming, high-energy blast of punk rock, the song is exactly what its title promises — a joyous, arms-wide-open reclaiming of the F-word, delivered with the kind of swagger that says: “We know we shouldn’t… but we’re gonna.”
Frontman Zsa sums it up succinctly: “Context matters. I’m a gay man in a rock ’n roll band, so I’ll own it. Sorry, not sorry.”
Clocking in at a tight 2:25 seconds, the song (and its quadruple-entendre lyrics) are powered by an irresistible hook that will have you singing along with abandon—and despite your better judgment. “We call that ‘The Cocks Effect’, ” laughs Zsa, “Our songs tend to get into your head even before you realize they’re a potential HR call.”
The single also arrives with a brand-new music video—a full-tilt, sweat-drenched performance clip and the band’s second collaboration with director Stevie Peavey.
Unlike their more narrative-driven projects, this one is pure rock ‘n roll performance: no intergalactic villains or circus sideshows… just pure COCKS.
“Stevie said, ‘Let’s strip it all down and just show the band being the band,’” says Zsa. “So that’s what we did it — aside from the part where we made it snow in the studio.”
“Being a Fag (In a Rock ’n Roll Band)” is the latest single from the band’s new album Endless Hummer (out March 2026)—a sunburnt blast of SoCal glam-punk swagger that cements their status as America’s Favorite Gay Punk Band.
