A new Jay and Silent Bob movie has been confirmed as Kevin Smith reveals the first plot details of the View Askewniverse’s next installment. Jay and Silent Bob have been in movies across Smith’s shared universe, debuting in 1994’s Clerks. The pair have headed two movies of their own, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back in 2001, and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot in 2019.

Speaking with Collider, Smith confirmed that Jay and Silent Bob will be coming back for a third movie with the pair front-and-center. Titled Jay and Silent Bob: Store Wars, the movie follows the events of Clerks III where the duo open up a weed dispensary. The new movie focuses on their competition with a rival store.

See Smith’s description below:

Believe it or not, man, we still find financing for Jay and Silent Bob pictures, so we’re making a movie called Jay and Silent Bob: Store Wars. For those who recall and still follow this closely, in Clerks III, they now run their own dispensary, since weed is legal in New Jersey. Store Wars is basically Spy vs. Spy. Another dispensary opens up across the street, and they spend the whole movie fighting and trying to destroy one another. So, it’s a stoner comedy, man, of the highest order, and I’m happy as hell.

Clerks III‘s characters mostly consisted of returnees to the View Askewniverse, from Randall Graves, who debuted in the first two Clerks movies, to Dante Hicks, the protagonist, who also showed up in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. As for Jay and Silent Bob, the pair’s story will be integral to their own titular sequel.

In addition to his description of the movie’s plot, Smith also confirmed the movie is currently casting. While cameras haven’t started rolling, he says the two characters Jay and Silent Bob will be up against are younger weed dispensary owners who they see as competition. This results in a battle as each group tries to ruin the others’ business.

The battle between two pairs of stoners makes Jay and Silent Bob: Store Wars sound like a premise that’ll keep amplifying the wild stakes the characters deliver and find themselves facing. While casting is still ongoing, this could also include the return of some familiar faces from previous movies in the View Askewniverse, depending on how events shape up.

Jay and Silent Bob: Store Wars is just one of multiple movies in the shared universe that have been considered in recent years. This includes a Mallrats follow-up acting as a tribute to original star Shannen Doherty, who died in 2024, and ideas for a potential Dogma sequel. However, neither project has gone into development, with Smith only pitching ideas for them.

With the third Jay and Silent Bob movie confirmed, the View Askewniverse will be continuing with the core duo in the spotlight. As for how the story shapes up and who else may be involved, Smith isn’t giving away any other details. But the premise alone is ripe for a comedic return for the title characters.
