Pittsburgh News Weekly (1996): “if your tastes tend to the independent dark-rock of the ’80s (Xymox, Breathless, And Also The Trees) or some of the newer heavenly drone-pop (Half String, Lanterna, Curtain Society) you will want to pick this up and be amazed that, finally, something this pristinely beautiful comes out of our fair city.”
Lowsunday’s 30th anniversary remaster of their highly regarded debut Low Sunday Ghost Machine captures nine tracks of energetic post?punk, shoegaze, and dreampop resonating with richly melodic atmospheres and introspective vocals. Included is a second disc with 7 bonus tracks from the era, some unreleased, some remixes and reinterpretations.
Low Sunday Ghost Machine marked the band’s second attempt at a full-length record following the shelving of their original debut. With renewed energy and a clearer sonic vision, the band returned to the studio and delivered what would become their defining statement — an album of layered guitars, atmospheric synths, and emotive vocals from songwriter Shane Sahene. With positive reviews and a dedicated cult following across the USA, Germany, and Italy, over the years Low Sunday Ghost Machine‘s reach and reputation blossomed in the dark alternative music community.
