The possibility of Love and Rockets reunion being imminent has reached a fever pitch after each band posted cryptic messages about some “exciting news,” directing fans to their new official Instagram page.

It has been a tumultuous year for Bauhaus. resuming a stalled reunion that began with a trio of shows in Hollywood in late 2019, the band were finally able to complete successful series of gigs, post-pandemic headlining dates, and festival appearances, even going on to finally debut new material by releasing their first song in fourteen years: “Drink The New Wine.” And their full-blood moon performance at the Cruel World Festival in Pasadena (a gig rescheduled twice, initially booked for 2020) proved incredibly memorable, being lauded as one of the band’s best performances of all time.

Everything seemed like it was finally aligning for Bauhaus, until Peter Murphy had to enter rehab to attend to his health and well-being. Unfortunately, the band was forced to cancel much of their North America reunion tour as a result. This caused speculation as to how the rest of the band would handle the inevitable shift, and if they would carry on as Love and Rockets as they had done after Bauhaus broke up for the first time in 1983.

This weekend, we got our answer in the form of a new Instagram account: Love and Rockets (Daniel Ash, David J, and Kevin Haskins ), where the band hint at things beyond an ongoing reissue campaign in their inaugural post.

It’s been a while since Love and Rockets have been active. Their last studio album release was 1998’s Lift, with their last tour the following year. The band last performed live in 2007 and 2008, with a mere six dates in that itinerary, including appearances at Coachella and Lollapalooza.

Last November, the band began a campaign of vinyl reissues of most of their albums through Beggars Arkive, with the label issued a press release about the reissues, stating “the recent unexpected cancellation of the Bauhaus U.S. dates has spurred legions of fans to beg Love and Rockets to perform again. Only time will tell if there will be any more chapters to their intriguing tale.”
