Danzig’s “Black Hell”

At long last – and on Friday the 13th no less – the rarest of rarities in the catalog of metal legend Danzig finally gets a fitting and proper release! “Black Hell” was a song originally released in 2011 as an exclusive on the soundtrack to the second installation of the megapopular The Hangover film franchise. And there the track stayed for several years, never before appearing on any other Danzig release…that is, until now!

Despite its initial appearance, “Black Hell” is a Danzig track through and through. A lone kickdrum sets the scene with a darkly strummed guitar joining in. Then that iconic voice begins the verses building slowly until about two minutes in, the song absolutely explodes with an epic chorus that feels like the heavens are being split in half by the thunderous sound of Danzig’s voice. Grab a copy of the 7” or 12” single to really get the full impact of this apocalyptic track!
