THE BLEAK ASSEMBLY Draws Light From The Dark On New Album

Darkwave duo, THE BLEAK ASSEMBLY returns with their new album, until the world stops hurting.

While this new album isn’t a dramatic departure from the gothic/darkwave/post-punk sound of previous releases from THE BLEAK ASSEMBLY, there’s a power and focus on this new album that maybe hadn’t been there before. Kimberly’s voice has always strong, but she sounds like an absolute Valkyrie on this release.

until the world stops hurting continues to feature dark subject matter but this new album also sees lyrical references to light and the Sun. Says vocalist & lyricist, Kimberly, “I have always come from a dark place especially with my lyrics because that’s where I put all my pain — into the music. It’s my release. Whenever you have total darkness there must be some form of light.  Its lyrically on so many various levels all about love which I think is the answer to the title of the album “until the world stops hurtinguntil the world stops hurting is available on all major digital platforms including Bandcamp and Spotify NOW!

THE BLEAK ASSEMBLY is a post-punk/darkwave project formed in August, 2022.  The project is a collaboration between Kimberly Kornmeier (vocals and lyrics) and Michael Smith (guitars, electronics, production).  The two collaborate very remotely – Kimberly writing and recording from Kurdistan, Michael from Denver, CO, USA.  The two were previously on the Nilaihah Records label in separate bands – Kimberly of BOW EVER DOWN and Michael of Fiction 8. They met via the Sounds & Shadows social media group. The two also collaborate as the current lineup of BOW EVER DOWN.

THE BLEAK ASSEMBLY‘s name is a loose reference to the Charles Dickens novel, Bleak House.  Anyone whose life has been twisted by a false promise of wealth belongs to the assembly.
