Times have changed and times are strange. Here I come but I ain’t the same. Mama, I’m coming home.

When you said goodbye you were on the run. Tryin’ to get away from the things you’ve done. Now you’re back again and you’re feeling strange. So much has happened, but nothing has changed.

Nobody knows where you’re going. Nobody cares where you’ve been, ‘Cause you belong to the city. You belong to the night. Living in a river of darkness beneath the neon light You were born for the city. Concrete under your feet. It’s in your moves, it’s in your blood. You’re a man of the street.

For the first time in decades I’m going home. I haven’t been through Morristown since Heather and I took a long road trip to Pittsburgh back in 1997 and we didn’t stop. I drove her through Egypt Valley and up the back road up the old Taylors Farm Hill which we saw was closed when we reached the top. Someone must have been watching over us as the bottom of the car wasn’t ripped apart. Once at the top we saw a big sign that read ROAD CLOSED! I hadn’t’ actually visited Morristown since February of 1993. It was painful emotionally and life changing. I was last in Wheeling around 2007 to visit my son and last trip to Pittsburgh was March 23, 2003 at Club Laga when MK ULTRA was a sponsor for the UNITED TOUR with Pigface / My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult / Bile / Zeromancer / Forced / Bottom Feeder.

It was after my last visit to my hometown in 1993 I set out to kill the person that I was born, and after just under 30 years of broken dreams, gallant attempts and being stifled by a socially retarded society in the region where I was raised and those experiences now long behind me, I had willingly succeeded in committing symbolic suicide. I had rebranded myself as Alex Zander 24/7

This is the door to WPHP Radio 91.9 FM under the guidance of my mentor the late Al Zeidman of WWVA AM Radio fame, where I studied radio broadcasting during the summers of 1981 and 1982 and made a lifelong friends in Dave Parsons who also still works in the music business only he works mainly in country music. It’ll be great to see him again.

Analog, oh boy. This is the board I learned on. Too bad they didn’t leave on the wall the gatefold photo I hung of Tanya Tucker back in 1982

I fly to Columbus early and stay 1 night then we drive to my father’s grave in Morristown and then dinner in Wheeling WV and 2 nights in Wellsburg/Steubenville and I wrap an overnight in downtown Pittsburgh. Be on stand by for some photos with a virtual rogues gallery cast of characters that have be instrumental of the better parts of my journey.

This trip is only partially for a long overdue healing process and to reunite with friends but to have 3 days with my brothers Aaron and Erik for the first time in decades.
