Los Angeles, CA (Sunday, March 5th) – Los Angeles-based artist Jaxxon D. Silva encompasses the skills of a truly multi-faceted artist. Inspired by the likes of punk, hip-hop, alternative, and grunge rock, Jaxxon D. Silva incorporates the sound of a new generation into each and every track he produces. Described as the “emo pioneer” of music, Jaxxon D. Silva holsters a unique combination of hip-hop beats with a mellow lo-fi alternative voice. He has collaborated with huge names such as Skepta and Lil Peep in his first EP “Poor Thing,” and has gained momentum since his start in music in 2017 – gaining recognition in the UK and the US and surpassing over half a million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 40 million listeners across all platforms.
Jaxxon D. Silva released the music video for “Shooting In The Dark” off of his recent album release “NUMBSKULL” today. The album combines textures and flavors we’ve yet to see from Jaxxon and many others in this genre-hybrid. There is something truly unique about this record, and though some aspects can be compared to names like MGK for their catchy punk-rock lyrics, Jaxxon combats these elements with grime and drill-influenced beats – setting him apart from all other artists in this genre. Though the album as a whole is a masterpiece, the standout track is undoubtedly “Shooting In The Dark.”
The song begins in a rather unassuming manner, different from what we know of Jaxxon D Silva’s usual style. A mellow guitar strumming is soon matched with a muted yet upbeat drum beat. His mellow, emotional and alternative influence really shine through in this track, giving us a glimpse into a more intimate side to Jaxxon. The song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of unrequited love, with lyrics “I think I fell in love with a lost cause, thought that it was mutual I guess not.” Simultaneously upbeat and mellow, the track promises to be an anthem for the brokenhearted.
Jaxxon proves his true multidisciplinary nature in his passion not only for creating more music, but future plans including the release of an original short film following his new EP.
