Ace Frehley (April 27, 1951 – October 16, 2025) — One Year Since His Passing/Revisit PodCast Tribute

American musician and one of the most recognizable guitarists in classic hard rock. Born in the Bronx, New York, he developed a passion for the guitar during his teenage years, drawing inspiration from artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Led Zeppelin. His raw, melodic playing and charismatic personality eventually helped transform him into a legendary figure in rock music.

As a founding member of KISS in 1973, Frehley became famous for his Spaceman makeup, smoking guitars, and unforgettable solos. His contributions to albums such as KISS (1974), Dressed to Kill (1975), Destroyer (1976), and Love Gun (1977) were fundamental to the band’s rise to international fame. He also wrote and performed memorable songs including “Shock Me,” “Rocket Ride,” and “Talk to Me.” His successful 1978 solo album featured “New York Groove,” which became one of the most recognizable recordings of his career.

Frehley left KISS in 1982 but returned for the band’s hugely successful reunion in 1996, performing once again alongside the original members. He continued releasing solo material, including Anomaly, Space Invader, and 10,000 Volts. Tragically, he passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 74, following a fall at his home. One year after his death, Ace Frehley remains an unforgettable icon whose sound and influence helped shape generations of rock musicians.
