Just 12 months after offering up a set of stories called “Unfolding,” the prolific Chicago transplant Sapphira Vee offers up a set of strong surprises on the new release entitled “Unfvkening.” An artist who never settles for the parameters of genre, “Unfvkening” contains seven original songs and five remixes (including two mixes of the “Unfolding” track “Evil in Numbers”), showcases a Sapphira Vee that is both sure of herself and more adventurous than ever – that says a lot, if you know her catalog. As for highlights — how do you narrow it down? “Something Better” is a prime statement-of-purpose, “Small” is a sidestep towards old school hip-hop vibes in a NYC post-funk way, and “Enough” is all driving, fangs, and reclamation of autonomy and control. If you need more reason to partake, you also get remixes from the likes of Sawtooth, Steven OLaf, DekaDance, Jane Jensen and J.Robot. Released today by Distortion Productions on all digital and streaming platforms along with a limited edition compact disc.
