Irish electro-pop pioneer Paul Quin unveils the first taste of his forthcoming album HIVEMIND
Irish singer, songwriter and electronic music pioneer Paul Quin returns with his new single “Dancing With The Devil”. A glamorous, infectious and danceable electronic track that opens the door to his forthcoming second album, HIVEMIND.
Following the critically acclaimed Life On Earth, Paul Quin is entering a new chapter with HIVEMIND, an album that brings together new romantic, synth-pop, disco, electronic pop and Quin’s distinctive storytelling.
“Dancing With The Devil” is one of the tracks forming the musical backbone of the new album, and it was co-written and produced with Eamonn “J-Wookie” Barrett, formerly of Irish band Royseven. The collaboration adds a strong dancefloor pulse to Quin’s characteristic electronic sound, combining analogue-inspired synth textures, memorable melodies and his unmistakable vocal presence.
The track is the first in a series of new singles leading towards the release of HIVEMIND in December 2026. The album represents the latest chapter in a musical journey, that began in Ireland in the late 1980s and has taken Quin from early synth-pop releases and underground electronic projects to his acclaimed 2021 album Life On Earth and beyond.
For the new album, Quin has also joined forces with a remarkable collection of musicians and producers. Among them is legendary UK producer Mark Saunders, whose extensive credits include David Bowie, Erasure, The Human League, Pet Shop Boys, Cyndi Lauper and Siouxsie. Saunders co-wrote and produced three tracks for HIVEMIND.
Other collaborators include Dec Quinn of Republic of Loose, orchestral arranger Gav Moran, punk musician Pete Holidai, Aidan Casserly of Empire State Human, Colm Key and sound engineer Greg Malocca.
While Life On Earth explored outsiderhood, love, loss, identity and the stories of people navigating everyday life, HIVEMIND moves into a different territory. The album takes its title from the idea of collective thinking, conformity and the increasingly connected world we inhabit.
At the centre of it all remains Quin himself: a songwriter fascinated by people, relationships, emotion and the strange contradictions of modern life – wrapped in lush electronic production and an unmistakable pop sensibility.
With “Dancing With The Devil”, Paul Quin once again proves that electronic music can be both deeply personal and made for the dancefloor.

Paul Quin is an Irish singer, songwriter and electronic music artist whose career spans more than three decades. Often described as a pioneer of Ireland’s electronic and electro-pop movement, Quin has consistently combined new romantic and synth-pop, electronic beats, storytelling and an individual visual identity throughout his career.
Born in 1971 in Bray, County Wicklow, Quin began making music as a teenager. In 1983, aged just 14, he formed his first band, Class Symplicity, with school friends. The group wrote and recorded their own material and performed locally, marking the beginning of a musical journey that would eventually take Quin deep into Ireland’s electronic music scene.
In 1989, Quin became the vocalist of the synth-pop duo biaZarre, together with the late John Butler. Their double A-side single “A Better Place / The Colour Of Rain” became a radio hit in Ireland and established Quin as a distinctive voice within the emerging Irish electronic music scene.
During the 1990s, Quin continued working across electronic music and other creative projects, including appearances on Irish dance music compilations and live performances.
In 2000, he released the EP Goodbye To Mandalay under the name Oz through PeopleSound, one of the early online record labels. The release included collaborations with songwriter and producer Aidan Casserly, a creative partnership that would continue over the following years.
In the 2000s, Quin continued developing his electronic sound. Under the name PFQ, he released the Future Songsproject, which included the track “Like A Laserbeam”. His work during this period combined synth-driven production with melodic songwriting and electronic pop.
After a period away from music, Quin returned to recording in 2021, releasing a series of singles through ScentAir Records. His earlier BiaZarre song “A Better Place” was reimagined for a new generation, while tracks such as “Be Yourself Girl” and “Everything I Loved I Lost That Day” introduced his music to a wider international audience.
In 2021, Quin released his debut solo album, Life On Earth. Created over several years with Aidan Casserly and a group of Irish musicians, the album brought together analogue synths, electronic beats, live instrumentation and Quin’s characteristically narrative songwriting.
The album received significant Irish radio and media attention. In 2022, Quin launched Life On Earth with a sold-out performance at Dublin’s Pepper Canister Church, followed by further live performances with a full band.
In 2023–2024, Quin continued releasing music and performing, while Life On Earth generated further international attention. “Everything I Loved I Lost That Day” reached number one on Radio Indie Alliance, and Quin was nominated for Electro Artist of the Year 2024 by UK-based Radio Wigwam.
In 2025, Quin was also involved in Beautiful, an autobiographical spoken-and-sung work created with artist Francis Fay and Dublin songwriter Seán Millar for the Bealtaine Festival.
In 2026, Quin entered a new chapter with his forthcoming second album HIVEMIND. The project brings together a wide range of collaborators, including UK production legend Mark Saunders, Eamonn “J-Wookie” Barrett, Dec Quinn, Gav Moran, Pete Holidai, Aidan Casserly, Colm Key and Greg Malocca.
The first single from the new album, “Dancing With The Devil”, launches the HIVEMIND campaign in September 2026. The track was co-written and produced with Eamonn “J-Wookie” Barrett and represents the increasingly dance-oriented side of Quin’s new material.
HIVEMIND is scheduled for release in December 2026 through Town And Towers Records, marking the latest evolution of an artist who has been making electronic music for more than 40 years.
From teenage synth-pop experiments in the 1980s to his current blend of sophisticated electronic pop, disco, synth-wave and storytelling, Paul Quin has never stopped moving forward. Always with one foot in the past and the other firmly on the dancefloor.
