BROOKLYN, NY — Brooklyn-based alternative rock band The Amatory Murder will release their new live album, We’ve Lost Our Minds, on October 2, available on all major streaming platforms.
Led by vocalist, songwriter, producer, and founder Xian Murder, with Binx Noir on bass and Jake Haimowitz on guitar, The Amatory Murder has built its sound around a mix of alternative rock, classic rock, and electronic influences.
We’ve Lost Our Minds captures the band in a live setting and gives listeners a different
perspective on songs from across their catalog. The performances highlight the heavier and more spontaneous side of the material, while keeping the melodies, electronics, and arrangements that have become central to the band’s sound.
The album reflects the way The Amatory Murder approaches live performance.
“There’s something that happens to these songs when we play them live that you can’t
completely recreate in the studio,” says Xian Murder. “The energy changes and sometimes the songs become something different altogether. We wanted to capture that honestly.”
Drawing influence from artists including Pink Floyd, Muse, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, The Cult, Led Zeppelin, Joy Division, David Bowie, U2, and The Smashing Pumpkins, TheAmatory Murder combines atmospheric production with heavy guitars and strong melodicsongwriting.
We’ve Lost Our Minds also reflects the band’s continued focus on live performance and touring. Over the years, The Amatory Murder has built its audience through independent releases, club shows, festivals, and DIY touring throughout the United States.
The new album documents that part of the band in a way that their studio releases cannot, presenting the songs as they exist in front of an audience rather than inside a controlled recording environment.
