8/19/2026 A letter I wrote to Culver’s HQ

I placed my order for the new Fried Pickle Pub Burger at 940 AM and the cashier was rushing me through that I couldn’t even add my number to get any earned points for my visit. I was the only person in line and the only person seated to eat in. There were to go order customers (4-5) waiting for their orders and I noticed that most of their orders were incorrect and had to be remade. When I was served there were NO pickles on my sandwich. I walked to the counter, looked at the picture on the menu and realized my sandwich was wrong. I told my cashier and had to show him that pickles were absent and another cashier offered to give me pickles on the side. I said absolutely not. I wanted the sandwich I had ordered. For the first time ever at any Culver’s every staff member were very rude. By time time my sandwich arrived it was dripping with grease as was the first one and to make it worse my fries were cold. I’ve never in my 30 years of eating at Culver’s ever had a negative experience. This one wasn’t only negative it was TERRIBLE and not up to your company standards in anyway. I’ve also never ever been served a burger that was dripping with grease at a Culver’s, it was nasty.

A completely different experience I had on my previous visit to the same location May 17, 2026

I’ve been going to this location since it opened and the food is always top notch however the service isn’t always on par. Saturday 5/16/2026 our service was exceptional and I didn’t get our cashier/servers name but they were on register 3 (R3) when we arrived just before noon. My friend and I were greeted in a very friendly/fun manner and I was complimented on my cowboy hat and as I was getting my drink my friend was told we looked like we were going to a MOTORHEAD concert, which we took as a compliment becasue we bother work in the industry, and I’ve seen MOTORHEAD more times than I can count going all the way back to the late 80’s We seated and our food came out unbelievably fast and it was delicious. We both had the Colby Jack Pub Burger value baskets and as excepted they are very fresh tasting and the fries are also excellent.

A very nice surprise I wasn’t expecting was that unlike other current fast food restaurants Culvers doe snot ask for a tip when payment is made. They also didn’t charge us an additional fee for mayo packets. Another bonus in this day and age.

Our cashier checked in with a few times and we enjoyed our meals still being friendly and fun. At the end we did our surveys on the receipt and got free custard as a reward.

Up till this day my favorite Chicago location has been the location on W Montrose under the CTA Brown Line but this experience has changed that and it much closer to home.

THANKS SEE YA SOON!

Rogers Park’s Historic 400 Theater, Closed Since 2023, Reopening This Month Under New Owner
Tickets for the July 31 opening of the theater — which had a 111-year run as Chicago’s oldest movie palace.

ROGERS PARK — After a three-year closure, Rogers Park’s New 400 Theater is reopening this month under a new owner who is reviving Chicago’s oldest movie palace.

The 400 Theater, 6746 N. Sheridan Road, is opening July 31, the business announced Tuesday.

The first movies to be shown at the theater include “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and “I Want Your Sex,” both of which had July 31 premieres, according to a Facebook post from the theater.

The theater will have about five new releases a month along with around 30 other titles, according to an FAQ from the theater. There will also be reserved seating, and, eventually, alcohol will be served.

Tony Fox bought the retail building housing the New 400 in 2007. He took over operation of the theater in 2009, after its then-owner stopped paying rent for more than a year.

The pandemic caused serious issues for the theater, and it pivoted to stay afloat by offering private theater rentals, selling concessions on its patio and by operating as a coronavirus testing center.

The New 400 reopened in 2021, having survived two global pandemics a century apart. But business never rebounded from the pandemic, Fox told Block Club previously.

I finally saw the new Spiderman movie and its easily my favorite with Tom Holland in the title role and he remains the perfect Peter Parker.Lots of great action scenes, many funny moments, some tear jerkers and only one CGI moment that we didn’t care for. (see below)

Yikes! A new $14 fee to enter and leave Chicago!

Brandon Johnson wants to charge you ??$?7 dollars to enter, $7 dollars to leave!?

Illinois drivers could soon face a staggering $14 round-trip charge just for entering and leaving the Chicago.

Mayor Brandon Johnson is considering congestion pricing that could charge all drivers $7 to enter Chicago’s central area and potentially another $7 to leave during weekday rush hours.

That’s $14 just to drive in and drive back out. These fees on top of the new toll increases that will go into effect on January 1. ? If you take mass transit, you will not be charged the fee.

[Q: Are you willing to pay this fee to help Brandon Johnson firm up Chicago’s faltering Finances?]?

….And this comes as Chicago faces a $1.15 Billion budget deficit.

As of right now, this is a consideration and has not been approved yet, but it appears that the Johnson administration is getting desperate

Saturday 8/23 saw my doctor in Bucktown at 1030 AM and everything checked out and she went me to St Mary’s to get my annual bloodwork. It was a beautiful morning and it made me want to explore my old neighborhoods via bike soon. My first Chicago was in Wicker Park and then I moved to Humboldt Park for a few years. It should be interesting. I’ll also check out my short lived address in Logan (Hipster) Square. My first few years in Chicago I moved around quite a but before I settled in on this street on N Kenmore in 2005. I also had 3 addresses in Lincoln Park between 2001 and 2005. I guest it’s safe to say my restless years are far behind me. I’ve been at my current address longer than I lived in the home I grew up in while attending 12 years of school.
