It wasn’t easy, it was hard as hell. You didn’t get luck in a wishing well. Never worked so hard, had so much pain. Wouldn’t change for anything.

HERE WE GO AGAIN: Chicago faces an unsettled week with high humidity and repeated rounds of potential severe thunderstorms carrying risks of damaging winds and heavy downpours. Expect a continuation of warm, humid conditions with daily rain chances lingering through the weekend before more stable weather arrives next week.

Deja Vu, like I said in my last DODM post it seems like I mention the extreme weather every week.

As of August 2026, Chicago has experienced an exceptionally wet summer, with Midway Airport recording over 17 inches of rain and O’Hare International Airport tracking over 10 inches of rain since the start of meteorological summer on June 1. Midway’s high accumulation ranks as the city’s second-wettest start to a summer season since records began in 1928.

As Robin Williams said in Good Morning Vietnam:

“It’s gonna be hot and wet! That’s nice if you’re with a lady, but it’s no good if you’re in the jungle!”

A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL LISTENERS AND VIEWERS

We’ve been working on setting up the second appearance by the Cocks since April and bumped the show at least a dozen times due to scheduling issues. We finally pulled it together but not without complications. The team all came together. Jessica arrived earliest after some traffic issues, it is a Chicago Sunday and traffic after all. Max was delayed due to crowded trains thanks to . The 43rd annual event took place August 7-9 , on Halsted Street from Belmont Avenue to Addison Street in the Lakeview/Boystown neighborhood, featuring four music stages, over 250 vendors, and drag performances. Dave McAnally was just in time due to an accident on the interstate. I had started prep on the sound gear and doing soundchecks early and Jessica came with multiple cameras and a green screen. Max ironed on a custom COCKS logo onto one of my shirts. We had numerous props. It took a good 6 hours of prep for this particular show. But it’ll be worth it once the video editing is done and this entity gets to YouTube.

The Cocks are a Los Angeles-based gay glam-punk rock band known for high-energy, provocative anthems like “It’s Better Being Gay” and “Being a Fag (In a RNR Band)”. Fronted by vocalist Zsa (Jay Sosnicki), the lineup features guitarist Tchad Drats, bassist Jason Halogen, and drummer Mike McCormick.

Most queer bands suffer from some type of queer exceptionalism, striving to be the very best in their genre and not just “good for a gay band,” while at the same time, working hard to spread an important message about the struggles against internalized and externalized homophobia. The Cocks, on the other hand, don’t worry about any of that and just have a whole lot of fun.

Max Bravo designed these custom t shirts for The Cock’s. According to the vocalist they really dig em and the concept

I started rewiring the studio table and did sound checks starting around 830 AM and then I broke out some props and later Jessica and Max would provide more for our beach party the Ultimate COCKScast. It was disgustingly humid and every thing was sticking to me and I was practically praying for the thunderstorm that by mid morning was already 9 hours later than predicted. Jessica and Max arrived and Max was working with heat as he iron the shirt and Jessica was outside steaming the green screen. We were all dripping. Finally around 130 PM a torm had arrived.

The Triple Threat

New reading material for review arrived over the weekend, This is the Advanced Readers Copy Rikki Rockets autobiography

Poison drummer Rikki Rockett released his debut autobiography titled Ghost Notes: My Life In Poison,-authored with writers Martin Svensson and Leif Eriksson, the book is published by Rare Bird Books. The title “Ghost Notes” references a technical drumming term for subtle, “in-between” beats, which serves as a metaphor for the lesser-known, personal stories behind his famous rock career.

From the suburbs of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, to the neon glare of Los Angeles, Rikki Rockett’s journey is as raw and relentless as the beat of his drums.

Before becoming the flamboyant, fire-breathing drummer of Poison, Rockett was a restless kid with a taste for rebellion and an obsession with music that refused to let him go.

In Ghost Notes, Rockett pulls no punches as he recounts the wild ride from basement bands and dishwashing jobs to forming one of the most iconic glam-metal acts of the 1980s. Beyond the sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll, he also confronts the shadows: fractured family ties, addiction, betrayal, cancer, brushes with death, and a lifelong search for meaning beyond the stage.

Brutally honest, darkly funny, and packed with never-before-told stories, Ghost Notes is both confession and celebration—a backstage pass to a life lived loud, fast, and without apology.

We’ll see if that holds up after I offer my review.
