Chicago Area Under Extreme Heat Warning as Dangerous Temps Could Feel Like 110 Degrees
Dangerous heat and humidity are expected this week, particularly Monday through Thursday with high temperatures in the mid-90s and heat index values – what temperatures will feel like when also factoring in humidity — reaching between 100 and 107 degrees.

- Chicago set a record for its warmest July 1 low temperature at 80 degrees, breaking a record that stood since 1931.
- Dangerous heat continues today with heat index values expected between 100 and 105 degrees before thunderstorms arrive later today or tonight.
- Storm chances increase through the holiday weekend, with cooler temperatures returning to the 80s by early next week.
What a fucking week. As if the home confining heat isn’t bad enough. One friend in the ground on Monday and another died Wednesday. Both Jewish and both famous for their artistic contributions.
Wednesday night met with Itti, the owner of Tac Quick who asked me to book shows there. I booked 5 almost 6 consecutive weeks and now I have to reschedule every act. One woman is really not taking it well at all.
And that’s the way it goes. And yet another reason why I despise doing anything more than a paragraph or a few sentences communicating via text. Its not all that bad I just have to shuffle a few things. I was under the impression they only booked Sundays, and now I’ve learned I can book Fridays and Saturdays from 930 PM till 2 AM on Friday and till 3 AM on Saturday. Full menu will be available till close and I can create my own team to work the nights I book., That’s even better than doing a Sunday night. So it will work out. Jessica just got uber excited and had postcards made. Changing the dates with labels will be easy enough. Its been done before.

I came home after the meeting and breaking the news to finish the program I was watching and my 3 year old 50 inch flat screen TV no longer works. I spent the evening and a few hours the next day doing all of the troubleshooting steps instructed online to no avail. As if this heat confining me to home isn’t enough punishment as it is.

I met Shaun through Sinderella Pussie aka Marcia Ove when I first started DJing at Liars Club in early 1999. Shaun would go on to attend many MK ULTRA sponsored events and I’d run into him at shows he was playing or just hanging out at a show. Chicago’s June Rainfall Is Closing In on Historic Territory
Chicago Midway has now recorded 7.34 inches of rain as of the morning of June 27, 2026 — making this one of the wettest Junes the city has seen in years.
That total is already nearly 180% of the normal June average of 4.1 inches, and there are still days left on the calendar.
Two major weather systems pushed the numbers up fast:
June 21 — 1.70 inches in one day
June 24 — 0.90 inches during severe storms and flash flooding
Severe storms bring wind, flooding and power outage concerns in Chicago
So it was a very wet June and July came in with excessive heat followed by another round if holiday weekend storms.
After four consecutive days of 90-degree weather, a severe thunderstorm is expected to bring cooler temperatures to the area ahead of Fourth of July festivities.

10 AM July 4th 2026 I went for my bike ride/exercise routine into Graceland Cemetery and once again felt compelled to document the storm damage. Much worse this season than any in recent memory.
For many years, this weekend was a lock for the most violent of the year. When the wheels came off on that mostly peaceful weekend in late May 2020, it was demoted to just another lead-filled weekend of silly decisions, with an extra day or two thrown in to pad the stats.
UPDATE: Mother Nature proves to be the queen of “Community Violence Interrupters” and isn’t in on the grift.

After days of rain and thunderstorms forced Fourth of July celebrations to be rescheduled across parts of Chicagoland, the chance for more showers and storms isn’t going away just yet.
Sunday will start with fog and showers. Mostly cloudy skies with warm temperatures and moderate humidity will continue through the day.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the region, with the best chance during the afternoon.
High temperatures will be 75, though areas along Lake Michigan will stay noticeably cooler.
I waited till just about noon for any rain to pass. We didn’t get any so I went back over to Graceland on my bike. My first destination after the long way around on the south rim of of the grounds was to the gravesite of William Deering 1826 – 1913 which I’ve rode by hundreds of time and even walked over but never knew who he was until last might.
Anybody who grew up in a rural area of the USA knows the IH Cap, International Harvester. I sure recognize it as a pretty good indication that the person who usually wears it doesn’t usually care for my type of person much. That’s from decades of experience, I tell ya’.
William Deering was a Chicago businessman and philanthropist. He was the founder of the Deering Harvester Company which later merged with other companies to become the International Harvester Company. He was an early president of the International Harvester Company. Much biographical information about him is available in Wikipedia and other online and print sources. He and his children endowed the Deering Library at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.
William Deering’s first wife was Abby Reed Barbour (died 1856, findagrave listing unknown). They had two children: Charles Deering (died 1927, buried in this cemetery lot); and Abby Deering (died 1906) , who married Richard Flint Howe.
The turtles are getting numerous this year and growing large in size.

I don’t have much of an appetite when its hot but after working up an after bike ride appetite I fired up the lil Webber and grilled Italian Sausage and corn on the cob.
This season has been a major pain in the ass keeping up with protecting the porch with all of the drastic and sudden changes in sever weather. Its been non stop with not one week of steady reliable summer weather. Maybe now a calm if we’re lucky.
