Friday morning forecast 2/13/2026

The Alta Vista Terrace District is a historic district in the Lake View community of Chicago, Illinois. The district was built in 1904 in imitation of the rowhouse style of London.

The development was the work of Samuel Gross, who was responsible for several other real estate developments in Chicago. He was inspired to build Alta Vista Terrace after a trip to Europe, in which he looked at the row houses of London. The street is one block long and contains 40 small, single-family rowhouses, each on a lot about 24 feet wide and 40 feet deep. There were 20 different exterior styles based on various adaptations of architectural styles. Some of the features included Doric and Ionic wood pilastersGothic archesPalladian windows, stained and leaded-glass fanlightsbay and bow windows, and various decorative woodwork. Houses on the street were constructed to match with the house diagonally opposite on the street.

Alta Vista Terrace is found at 1050 West on the Chicago street grid, running north from Grace Street (3800 North) to Byron Street (3900 North).

This street represents one of the last real estate developments of Samuel Eberly Gross, a highly colorful realtor responsible for the construction of thousands of houses in the Chicago area. Sometimes called “A Street of Forty Doors,” Alta Vista Terrace displays a lively variety of architectural styles and detail, yet every townhouse on one side is duplicated with only minor variations at the diagonally opposite end of the block. The distinctly human scale creates a unity and harmony rarely found elsewhere in the city.

Well, we got “ghosted” again by superstar ghost hunter Stormy Daniels for the 2/15/2026 podcast. The first time was when we were in NOLA in December 2024 and heard back only after our return.

I’m glad we didn’t promote it or create a promo ad as communications seemed to have ceased after Tuesday last week. I did tell a lot of people by phone and Byron was even going to come sit in with Max and I for the episode. So goes another week that I’ve paid for only to host “dead air” again. So yes it happens celebs cancel or postpone all the time and the cost does trickle dowm. Think of that next time our podcast or I am blamed for when a show falls through. This is time that I buy annually before the fact. PLEASE LET ME BE CLEAR: I’m not holding Stormy and company at fault here as I realize “it happens” more often than not. But for listeners I beg for a little more patience and understanding. Every time a show falls through its yours truly that pays for it in the end.

So, suddenly SUN 2/15/2026 6:30 AM CST

STORMY: Yes, we have it on the schedule. Just need link for call in.

ALEX: Oh dang. Its too late now. I needed at least a days’ notice that its a go. Not enough time to promo the podcast now.

If we can reschedule for next weekend. I have Sunday 2/22 booked but can do one Saturday afternoon 2/21 1 PM CST. All you need to do is call in but I also need 3 songs to play.

So we’re on for next Saturday at 1 PM CST

Post Valentines Day Turkey

In lieu of there being no podcast on Sunday I took the opportunity to open the kitchen door and take it apart and clean every piece and behind and under every shelf and rack. It was a labor but one hat has been long over due. Did Melita help? Only by staying out of my way and studying for the bar exam which is nothing new.
