A Projection formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 2013 as a post-punk outfit influenced by The Cure, Joy Division/New Order, Sisters of Mercy, Interpol and Editors, although electronic acts such as Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, D.A.F. and compatriots The Knife were also important to their original vision.
Producing a sound that also resonated with goth and alternative rock fans, the first three albums by the band – ‘Exit’ [2015], ‘Framework’ [2017] and ‘Section’ [2019] – developed from minimalist beginnings into a more readily accessible sound.
‘Section’ is to be reissued with amended cover artwork and on limited edition white vinyl on 6th February 2026, with pre-orders available from today (5th December). The album is home to the singles ’Something Whole’, ‘Lucy Shrine’ and ‘Substitute’.
An enforced break during lockdown in 2020 resulted in two line-up changes, including the band’s former bassist becoming lead vocalist. With it came a shift towards a more synth-based style with early ‘80s and contemporary darkwave influences combining to produce the album ‘In A Different Light’, released in late 2022 and which included contributions from fellow Swede Henrik Linder of Dirty Loops and Sarah Boom of the Brussels based Turquoise.
A Projection continue to tour regularly in their own right and have also graced the stages of European festivals such as Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Amphi Festival, Dark Spring, and M’era Luna on multiple occasions.
