Goth rock goes clubbing: Scheitan releases Ashbury Heights remix of “Heaven Tonight”

Following the release of their single and music video, Swedish gothic rock band Scheitan have unveiled a club remix of “Heaven Tonight”, created by CJ of the Swedish synthpop duo Ashbury Heights. The remix presents a new take on the track, made for the dance floor.

The remix will be available on all major streaming platforms from 29th August.

Known for their synthpop, Ashbury Heights has been a prominent name in the electronic and alternative music scenes since their formation in 2005. Their music, a mix of catchy melodies, electronic beats, and emotional lyrics, has earned them a dedicated global following.

CJ’s involvement in the “Heaven Tonight” remix adds a distinct electronic element to Scheitan’s gothic sound.

Scheitan’s Pierre commented on the collaboration: “No, we are not going disco, the upcoming album will be as much goth as it can be. BUT, we have a remix of ‘Heaven Tonight’, done by none other than CJ of Swedish synthpop starlets Ashbury Heights, and this one you can dance to. It is both exciting, scary and uplifting to give free hands to another artist to do something completely different with the music you have created.”

The new, yet untitled album will be released by The Circle Music. While the album itself will remain a true goth offering, the remix provides a unique, danceable version of their latest single.

Earlier this spring, Scheitan released a music video to “Heaven Tonight”, a collaborative art project produced by noted photo artist Annie Bertram (known for her work with Blutengel, She Hates Emotions, and The Giger Museum). The video also features Katrin Lanfire and Maik Beiersdorf, well-known figures in the goth scene.

This follows Scheitan’s 2024 album “Songs for the Gothic People” (The Circle Music) and their return after a 24-year hiatus. Having formed in 1996 by Pierre Törnkvist, Scheitan began with black metal roots but evolved to define their current gothic rock sound and continue to build on their sound. Their previous albums, including 1999’s “Nemesis” have garnered a reputation as hidden gems within the genre.
