This is what my every morning at the 8 AM hour looks like everyday this summer so far

SUMMER 2025 HAZY HOT AND HUMID

Black Culver’s. West Montrose: I bring my own tortillas.

Alternative Nation: A Retrospective is a powerful multi-photographer exhibition that kicks off with a private media preview before opening its doors to audiences on Friday, Aug 15 (5–6:30 PM) at After, the West Loop cocktail bar from Michelin-starred chef Curtis Duffy. Guests can enjoy select complimentary drinks while connecting with award-winning photographers Jonathan Rach and Joseph Cultice in an intimate setting. Curtis will also return Saturday at 5 PM for a public conversation with both photographers
The show features rare, BTS, and never-before-seen images of Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, Aphex Twin, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and more — shot by five legendary photographers who helped define the visual identity of the ’90s alt-rock era. These are not just performance shots, but intimate, human moments that tell deeper stories of rebellion, identity, and emotional intensity.

It was a very hot commute as far as the weather was concerned but the venue was cool and air conditioned. Met up with Melita right on time and once inside I had a nice conversation with one of teh featured photographers Joseph Cultice who we have a few mutual friends in the industry.
Cultice began his photography career in Phoenix, Arizona, where he was inspired by his love of rock ‘n’ roll and pop icons like KISS and David Bowie. His first photo shoot was with rock band The Meat Puppets.
Cultice’s first big break came with Nine Inch Nails whom Cultice photographed throughout their most iconic era The Downward Spiral and associated tour season. He has also shot for artists including N’SYNC, Björk, Moby, Nine Inch Nails, Destiny’s Child, Macy Gray, Garbage, Boy George, Patti Smith, Beck, Basement Jaxx, Kill Hannah, Korn, Type O Negative and Gary Numan.

Fun sweaty shot in the a hot and humid west loop.

Not exactly the kind of news you want to see in the morning especially via email. I am aware nonetheless and am trying to get more information. My history on this one is as complicated as the person. I never had a woman make such an immediate impact upon meeting her for the first time. It was a special day that I will always hold near and dear and it was more than just meeting Margi.
