
Dangerous Heat Wave Set To Scorch Chicago This Week
An extreme heat watch has been issued for Chicago, where temperatures could feel like 105 degrees Thursday and Friday — with little relief overnight.
Heat index values may not fall below 90 degrees Wednesday night, meaning little to no overnight relief is expected until sometime Thursday night.
Thursday could be warmer than Wednesday, with a forecast high of 97 degrees, according to the weather service.
By Friday, temperatures should ease slightly with a high near 90 and a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Storm chances linger into Friday night, with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 72.
Saturday is expected to bring more of the same — mostly sunny with a high near 84 and a chance of storms — before clearing out by nightfall.
Chicago on Monday is experiencing “moderate” air quality, according to AirNow.gov. Individuals sensitive to particle pollution are advised to limit outdoor activity or reduce the intensity and duration of time spent outside.

Burnham and his family are buried under natural glacial granite boulders on a small island near the northern end of Lake Willomere. Burnham’s island is reachable via a permanent footbridge.



“Elkhorn” is a dramatized series that focuses on the early life of Theodore Roosevelt, particularly his time in the Dakota Territory where he established the Elkhorn Ranch. While the series captures the essence of Roosevelt’s adventurous spirit and his transformation into the “Cowboy President,” it does take some creative liberties for dramatic effect
The series is inspired by real events, such as Roosevelt’s move to the frontier after the tragic deaths of his wife and mother, and his efforts to reinvent himself as a rancher and cowbo[y. However, some of the specific encounters and events, like confrontations with bandits and grizzly bears, are likely exaggerated or fictionalized to enhance the storytelling
Overall, “Elkhorn” provides a compelling portrayal of Roosevelt’s formative years, but it’s important to remember that it is a dramatization and not a documentary.

I just finished watching a great documentary minseries on the History Channel about Theodore Roosevelt. It was released in May 2022 and was the fourth documentary of its kind that has been released. I’ve seen Washington (2020), Grant (2020) and Lincoln (2022), and I enjoyed each of them. There is also a fifth documentary on Franklin Roosevelt that I plan to watch soon, which was just released this past May. Just like the previous three, the Teddy Roosevelt documentary was very well made. It is two episodes and each are 2.5 hours. Teddy Roosevelt is played by actor Rufus Jones, and I thought he did a very accurate portrayal of Teddy. The documentary cuts back and forth between well-known historians, discussing the life of Roosevelt, and then cuts to the events of his life as a drama. The documentary does a great job adding suspense to many of the key events of his life. You are often left with a cliffhanger right before a commerical break that makes you want to know what happens next. It does help that TR was such a fascinating and accomplished person.
I’ll end this post with a great quote from the man himself:
