You say Rolls, I say Royce. You say God give me a choice. You say Lord, I say Christ. I don’t believe in Peter Pan, Frankenstein or Superman

I took out the tank for a real errands run first time of 2025 across the cities north side, Lincoln Park, Roscoe Village, Lakeview, Uptown, Buena Park and Edgewater with lots of side street black top work being done by the city. It was nice till it started getting windy mid afternoon. My knees were feeling it as was the rest of my body when I returned home.

What I wasn’t expecting was the following email I got upon my return.

Hi Alex,

I’m so sorry, but unfortunately Carla won’t be able to participate in the podcast at this time. Her schedule has become extremely packed with recording the new LOA record and other pressing commitments, and she’s currently at full capacity.

I really appreciate your interest and hope you understand—we just want to make sure she’s not overwhelmed.

Thanks again for your support, and perhaps we can revisit this down the line!

I’m glad that I was able to secure Lucia for you though! She’ll be a great interview!

I certainly miss the days when being part of the MK ULTRA world was not only a priority but a necessity for a great many artists.

So I’ve decided to invite a few friends over and we’ll eat and reassemble the back porch Sunday afternoon.

Its happens more often than I like but as a journalist/publisher you learn to deal with it. They have their own schedules. When I get slack over guest cancelling it’s very unfair it’s just part of the job. I have no control over other people’s lives. I had a co host who would either arrive late totally fucked up or not show up at all leaving a room full of people waiting. For fucks sake I’ve paid MK ULTRA Magazine employees for work they’ve bailed on and that is the part that really sucks.

Imagine the worst parts of this career. Travelling to a show only to find that you’re not on the guest list. Motley Crue once asked us to run a banner on this website for free promoting their Carnival Of Souls Tour, get to the venue and after pay $30 for parking then after standing at Will Call in the cold are only given 1 ticket and photo pass leaving the photographer without a ticket and he had to purchase one. Not fucking fair is it? Its happens a LOT and more often than I like. Once I got to the House of Blues where they have known me for many years and told I was not on the guest list and then we heard the singer Tairrie B dedicate a song to me. Yet, not on the guest list? Yeah, shit happens but also a LOT of very very cool memorable things happen that make it all worth the while and I’ve made a lot of friends along the way. And I’ve been on stage with GENNNNNEEEE SIMMMOOONNNNS! (sort of)

On a positive note Kelly Roberts over at LUKE IS BACK gave us some press yesterday:

Legendary adult film star SEKA, famously dubbed the “Platinum Princess of Porn,” made a special appearance on the MKULTRASOUND Podcast following her recent participation in the EXXXOTICA Chicago convention.

THANKS KELLI!

I decided that for this years Rock n Roll BBQ that I’m going to make a lot of this for my side dish and add thinly sliced dill pickles to it. Melita is going to make her Georgian dill side dish. I suspect dill and fresh mozzarella might taste good.

Sunday Max came over to grill mid afternoon and I had spent a few hours in his hood grocery shopping thanks John Polachek and Melita. My fridge and freezer were completely empty but for half of a half gallon of milk. While Max and I were grilling Amy messaged me and dropped off the package pictured above containing hair color and 5 Miller High Life bottles. Pretty cool freaking friends.

Damned Whole Foods pork chops were fantastic

I finally found Dill Pickle Mayo to go with the pasta I bought the last of at Aldi for Memorial Day

It’s only fitting that I close the week out after announcing my very first concert and follow up with another life changing event. I was sent to see SKINNY PUPPY on 11/07/90 Columbus, OH when I was a freelancer for STAGE Magazine in Columbus OH. Little did I know what that would do for my career as a journalist and eventual publisher. I got to learn about the band, their music, their live show as well as their struggles with drugs. Then on May 31 1992 they returned to the Newport Music Hall in Columbus OH along with my friend Scott Arthur and would be the first to get me totally fuckedup beyond belief backstage. It would also be Skinny Puppy’s last tour for twelve years. I’m saving the entire story for the book.

Friday around 130 PM I walked to do my laundry at Wash U Coin Laundry 4552 N Magnolia Ave. It was a fairly crisp day and I needed to get some exercise so I walked there as opposed to taking the train. Since the first of the year the cost to wash a load of laundry has gone up 50 cents. WHen I got in into the laundromat I was elated after loading a washer that for teh first time ever almost all of the dryers were not in use and available. On FAcebook I titled this photo PARADISE.

Keep in mind there are two walls of dryers just like this one. I’ve been so overwhelmed with trying to get my wash dried in the past one time it was pointless to wait and I had to drag my wet laundry home to hang dry it which was a BITCH! Not to mention I can get rather claustrophobic.

Not 15 minutes later my PARADISE was PARADISE LOST! UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE. Both walls of dryers were all mostly in use. OY VEY!

Another pet peeve of doing my wash at this location. People are non stop talking on their cell phones. Non stop they never ever stop talking. So much so that when they are loading and unloading the units they do with one hand. ONE HAND in order for them to continue talking without pause. I often wonder if the person on the other line ever gets a word in. What the fuck is so important that you need to constantly be talking on the phone? Walking down the street, walking across the street, at the grocery store and on the CTA they never ever stop talking.
