I first met Seka when she sat down with me for an in person interview back in 1999 at Topo Gigio Ristorante in Old Town for a feature in the Safe Sex issue of MK ULTRA which had the CULT on the cover. It was part of a huge publicity stunt that I cannot take credit for. At the time an inspiring fellow I met in Indianapolis back in 1995 named John Cheney who was practically a punk rock genius as well as a well read intellectual who also had a zine called Heathen World (www.heathenworld.com) back in the day. It was very edgy, offensive and funny in all the good ways, Very punk rock and DIY. We became friends over the years even though he had relocated to Phoenix in 1997 would continue to contribute his writings to MK ULTRA over several years. Several years till he tired of my hell raising antics. On my very first visit the first of two with Heather Hobbs in 1999 driving cross country to Arizona he told me he had an idea to do a safe sex issue of Heathen World and staple a new condom to the cover. Right through the prophylactic. I asked if I could borrow the idea. MK had already risen to some of popularity and gained a reputation after having relocated to Chicago in the autumn of 1998 and less than a year later and establishing ourselves as supporters of the local gay community had no problem when we asked a local organization called BEHIV’s Community Unity II HIV Prevention Program to donate thousands of condoms and lube for our cause.
Once the new issue was picked up from our new printer in Hammond Indiana Greg Miner and I drove up to to the BHIV office in Andersonville and took, no kidding, two full large garbage bags of condoms and lube to the first Chicago home of MK ULTRA in Wicker Park. The we had a condom stapling party where those helping got free pizza and beer and about six of is stapled thousands of condoms to thousands of issues of MK ULTRA. We began to nicue something. The condoms came in 3 packs, all individually packaged in clear little zip lock bags along with a packet of lube. 1 of 3 condoms was prelubricated thus would leave 1 out of 3 MK Magazine covers stained with a ring on the upper right corner where we places the safe sex product.
The stunt worked mostly receiving raves but we did receive and did publish the letters of hate mail calling out stunt irresponsible in the following issue.. Hysterical! And yes I always do provide a disclaimer.
I have been in touch with Seka off and on over the years and most recently on Facebook and as her most recent appearance to EXXXOTICA Chicago was approaching her husband Carl was kind enough to reach out an inquire into our podcast. In less than a day wheels were in motion to have them come back into the city on the Sunday after her final Q&A session for an in person interview which we would also record for YouTube, Little did I know within a few days of the show Max would wrangle a new pro who recently moved to town and into my neighborhood for filming. What can I say about Max, he’s magic and like me can make things happen which I think is a good reason why we get along and work well together. He had a friend who he saw at a Star Wars theme burlesque show on the Friday night prior to the podcast and told me he’s be coming along, This cats name is Trey Burnette and he owns Shoreside Productions and is from Tennessee and like I said lives in my neighborhood., which is not far from Max either. Without meeting he and Max showed up with all of the gear and we had a few hours to kick back watch some funny videos, have some drinks and get to know each other. This guy doesn’t fuck around., He had everything and had the sound and film edited two days after the podcast with Seka.

The day before the show with Seka I had a podcast with Victoria Crosby. She arrived the Friday night prior in record time driving from south central Indiana and it was the first time I partied since I was in New Orleans back in December of 2024 for my birthday and boy howdy we both felt it., Victoria Crosby was my first house guest of 2025. She’s such a mom. She only used 1 glass during her stay. Wiped down surfaces and in a nutshell I did not have to do any clean up. Perfect example of how to not be a river pig. Thank you!
