Dance me to the wedding now, dance me on and on. Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long. We’re both of us beneath our love, we’re both of us above. Dance me to the end of love

So, I finally feel better for the first time in maybe 3 weeks. I should have never said “I haven’t been sick since just before Thanksgiving”, which I did when most of my friends from all over told me there were very ill. I got it bad. At first I had an annoying cold which I was able to manage without much discomfort but after I spent a day downtown being sent from city government to city government buildings walking in the cold and dealing with the laziest city employees you can imagine I got very very sick. Missing work and staying in bed, It was misery at its best. My house was a mess because I could not keep up with my very high maintenance felines which is a job in itself. I would go days without eating. And even though I was in bed a lot it was difficult to sleep The heat in my apartment building was ridiculous so I have to open windows which certainly didn’t help. I have no idea how I made it thru the last podcast. I was okay till Greg Drunken showed up with a bottle of Jamo. Today, Thursday February 27th is the most human I’ve felt this entire month.

EL PALMAR

Which political party do you think this driver belongs to?

The only benefit of being sick as I was is that I was able to catch up on some movies. Two films which I failed to see in theater and am happy I waited until they were streaming. I found NOSFERATU to be slow and boring. My brother loved it but also told me people either love it or hate it. No one seems to be on the fence with this one. I could not wait for it to be over.

Next up was Long Legs which is the most recent film featuring Alicia Witt. I know it did very well at the box office and people seemed to have loved it but as with the above mentioned feature left me with the same feeling, as well as being oddly predictable. If anything it really doee sprove Alicia Witts range as an actress.

After nearly 3 days of not eating it was Byrons to the rescue. The half pound Dogzilla is an experience to behold! Vienna Beef makes these just for Byron’s. Make sure to take small bites, because the size of this hot dog cannot be overstated – it’s seriously huge.

Jumbo Hot Dog. Super size your white house dog. I am lucky to have this place and other favorites so close to home.

Brian Stoneman sent me this image from around 2014/2015 of me in front of the former Chicago Brauhaus. It was one of my very favorite places to go and the singer often had me sing with him and I once played a big stand up bass on stage in front of a packed haus. It was always packed in the place.

The final night the Brauhaus was open

Tuesday February 25th I finally got an appointment at the social security office to get a replacement card that was stolen from me back when Sinderella’s ex cunt boyfriend broke into my apartment in 2004 and stole my wallet and other property from not only myself but my roomates at the time. I was almost 100 % better and decided to leave early and stop at Culvers.

I had almost 2 hours to kill so I walked around Lincoln Square looking for a place to sit and grab a drink. Nothing’s the same anymore. I tried the CITYSKYLINE LOUNGE which turned out to be a coffee shop.

Ahhh Garcia’s home of the best margarita in the city. Premium Margarita. $14.00 and a shot of Don Julio $12.00

…….and then it was off to the Social Security office where right when I walked in the security guard was dragging a woman out for using her cell phone.

During my time in Lincoln Square I found an amazing antique shop and picked up some cool SW pottery for $20

Why not? Since rush hour was approaching I stopped into Hansa Clipper for once before the CTA

Then I came home to this: This is where the lazy PIECE OF SHIT Amazon driver threw my order this afternoon. WTF!!!! The 16 lbs of cat litter was busted open and the 24 case of canned cat food broken open. I’m going to calm down and think over my words before I send in my complaint. And I just renewed my subscription on Saturday.

I needed to wait till morning when I was clear headed and not as upset to call in my complaint.

The next day:

Well, took care of that. Hopefully this Amazon driver will be fired otherwise he’ll break out the windows of my home.

ADIOS!

When this was originally announced I figured by this time I’d be living in the burbs (good decision not to leave due to current circumstances) . This is on the corner by my home of 18 years and where El Palmar is located. I hope they find a spot close by if they decide to stay open. It’s been a pleasure having them pretty much “downstairs”. All of my guests have been there with me. I could give a damn about Holiday Club which has been horrible since Tim sold it.

The Chicago Zoning Board of Appeals, now home to our favorite ex-Ald. Helen Shiller, met on February 21 and approved the three zoning variances requested for the 4006 N. Sheridan proposed development at the northwest corner of Sheridan & Irving Park.

As we disclosed when we broke news of the development in 2023, the new development is being built “by right,” i.e. without need for formal approval by the Aldermanic office. However, the 3 variances requested (and now granted) will allow the developer to have residences on the ground floor and less on-site parking due to being next to bus and train lines and no loading spaces.

The upcoming 7 story building will feature a mix of studio, one, and two bedroom units as well as 3,100 square feet of retail on the ground floor.

Unfortunately, readers tell us that attempts to get the developer to save the beautiful terra cotta clad Holiday Club building were rejected by the developer in favor of the modern design.  We hear the plan is for Holiday Club to move back into the new retail space at the base.

We are very sad to see the building go. We do look forward to the density added by the new building, including new residents and (hopefully) new businesses!

Aldi eggs. Trump’s fault.
