Led by Nero Bellum, cult US act Psyclon Nine have long cemented a reputation as one of the most infamous yet successful exponents of the Industrial and Metal crossover scenes, often credited as being the founders of the Blackened Industrial sub-genre.
Melding elements of Industrial Rock, Metal, Deathcore, Ambient and Trap, ’I Choose Violence’ was unveiled in December as the first single from forthcoming new album ‘And Then Oblivion’, with Bellum stating: “I specifically set out to break as many genre limitations as possible with this song, while staying true to the concepts and imagery that Psyclon Nine evokes. Lyrically, it’s a reflection of the world we live in. An anthem for the unseen and unheard.”
A second single entitled ‘Devils Work’ is released on 14th February, while the band are currently on a ‘Devils Work XXV’ US tour that leads up to the release of the album in March. UK and mainland European dates will follow in the summer.
Since forming in 2000, Psyclon Nine have built a substantial dedicated fanbase worldwide via regular international touring that has included European festivals such as Dark Malta, Castle Party (Poland) and four appearances at Wave Gotik Treffen (Germany), each to audiences of 30,000+ fans. They will tour Europe again in 2025.
The group’s most recent album, ‘Less To Heaven’ (2022), saw them charting undefined musical territory that bridged metalcore with doom electronics, trip-techno with black metal and experimental cinematic soundscapes with alternative rock. Featuring the singles ‘Money And Sex And Death’ and ‘See You All In Hell’, a remix companion album entitled ‘More To Hell’ was issued in 2023.
