they take me to the mall and stick me on some guy’s knee. he sees me when i’m sleeping? sounds suspicious to me. just when you get the hang of it, it all goes back to normal round here. oh man, it’s a weird time of year, oh man, it’s a weird time of year

I did an excellent podcast yesterday with an old friend who I last saw at the Vic Theater in 1999 when I had them added to the bill of the second Expo of the Extreme. Unfortunately, due to some unexpected drama going on behind the scenes with the premotor and the CPD the band pulled out and drove back to Ohio. Daniel C who is best known as the drummer for The Wake has a new project which we’ve be posting about on this site. I planned to have him on after my previous show last month with [melter] Robert Hyman and JAX, the former who I also happen to be old friends with. It just so happened that when I contacted him only one week ago that he’d be in Chicago for a trade show downtown and he had the time to pop up to Studio Diablo for an in depth podcast which happened to be one that I am very pleased with. Very pleased. it’s always better when I have some history with the subject which is more often than I realize. I’m very fucking blessed to have made these connections over the years. Next week I have Mark Panick on to talk about his new RAZORHOUSE release. Another friend that I have a long history with. I take none of it for granted but sometimes fail to realize the fortunes of a part of my success when there is so much negativity directed at me it at time clouds the upside of things that should matter more to me than they do.

And then there’s this one from my brother Blue:

another addition to my Alicia Witt musical library. this will be an annual staple the same way the mojo nixon “horny holidays’ record. a very welcome addition.

Award winning actor & Billboard Top 30 charting singer-songwriter Alicia Witt has played her piano-driven pop-rock all over the world, including at the Grand Ole Opry. This summer she starred opposite Nicolas Cage in the smash hit LONGLEGS, which grossed $110M at the box office & is the biggest indie film of 2024. She appeared on Fox’s The Masked Singer (2023), winning her first episode with her rendition of ‘Over the Rainbow’. Alicia is beloved for her 10 Christmas movies, many of which feature her original music. Her self-produced album, I Think I’m Spending Christmas with You, came out Nov 8, supported by a 12 city US tour. She released The Conduit in 2021, which she co-produced; single Chasing Shadows spent 5 weeks on the Billboard Top 30. Previous releases include 15000 Days, produced by Grammy winner Jacquire King, and Ben Folds produced Revisionary History. A classically trained competitive pianist, Alicia’s music has been described as ‘sharply personal, boldly melodic pop originals in the Carole King/Billy Joel vein’ (Philadelphia Inquirer). Alicia’s 4 decades-long career as a TV/film actor began with David Lynch’s DUNE at age 7. Her over 100 credits include Netflix’s 2022 hit I Care A Lot; Orange Is The New Black; The Walking Dead; ABC’s Nashville; Justified; Twin Peaks; Two Weeks Notice; Mr Holland’s Opus; The Sopranos; Cybill; Urban Legend; and Fun, which earned her an acting award at the Sundance Film Festival (1994) & an Independent Spirit Award nomination.
