MOVIE REVIEW: Slithis and Slither

Review by Paul J Baio for MK ULTRA Magazine

In my continuing examination of movies with similar names or themes, I offer a comparative analysis of Slithis and Slither. Released in 1978, Slithis, also referred to as Spawn of the Slithis, revolves around the terrorization of Venice, CA residents and pets by a creature born from nuclear waste. Ultimately, the film fails to impress. In short, it sucks.

Slither (2006) concentrates on a horde of alien parasites that invade a small town. It’s a horror comedy directed by James Gunn, and has a Troma Films sensibility that was carried over from his previous work with them. It’s the movie that put him on the map, and is a ton of fun to watch.
