Brooklyn-based electronic-sleaze, disco-dance-metal grime group Makes My Blood Dance cannot be assigned to one genre, and instead fuses styles from all across the board, incorporating elements of cyberpunk, metal, and pop. Lead singer EVO is joined by Jon Kristian on guitar and synth to create infectious melodies and hard-hitting riffs that stick with listeners even after the song has ended.
Frontman EVO founded MMBD with lead guitar/synth player Jon Kristian at a transitional time in life; early in recovery from addiction, the two connected over their mutual passion for metal and bonded over their personal journeys. EVO describes himself as “A shaman of music and love magic, a communicator who is also flawed but has been broken enough to be honest and share in the healing….and still learning.”
Early on in their career, MMBD was described as Disco-Metal, and since then the group has transformed their sound to include sonic elements of synth-wave and cyberpunk. A unique combination of groove and dance-oriented rhythms is paired with a pop-y melodic and theatrical musical approach to set MMBD on an entirely new level than most artists in neighboring genres. Some describe them as a “ballsier Panic at the Disco, with Ghost, Mindless Self Indulgence, and NIN rolled into one.”
