ESA & Moaan Exis Drop Crushing Two-Song EP, Spit & Spite

A punk power industrial sparring match between two bands, ESA Moaan Exis yields a crushing new two-track EP, Spit & Spite courtesy of Negative Gain Productions.

In 2020, just before the first lockdown of Covid appeared on the horizon. ESA and Moaan Exis played a show together in Prague, Czech Republic. That encounter comprised of an acknowledgement of mutual respect for each others projects, along with a pinky promise that at some point we would collaborate and put something together in the future.

Fast forward three to five years and the schedules finally aligned enough to create something that we all felt deserved to actually live. The artists wanted to make sure that whatever they put together felt like a 50/50 split – like ESA ingested Moaan Exis or Moaan Exis injected ESA.

They wanted to make sure that fans of both bands were able to feel exactly what a merging of these projects would sound like. ‘Spit & Spite’ is a double A-side of absolute power. ESA’s hooked up rolling rhythms combined with Moaan Exis’ punk- like industrial energy. Moaan Exis’s snarling basslines combined with ESA’s pummeling percussion.

It’s all there and in its purest form; the punk power industrial sparring match between ESA Moaan Exis.

Moaan Exis:

The shattering energy of the industrial duo Moaan Exis will not leave any particle of your body unscathed, the intensity of their show will boost you to 1000%. A sound object burning melancholy with the violence of a catastrophe. There is little respite, yet so much urgency. This is manifested by a powerful beat, confusing rhythms, strange sounds, a brutal distortion or not soothing soundscapes. Because the motor is emotion. Ultimately, Moaan Exis desires to sublimate sound into fury, rage and sweat. Mathieu: vox, programming, synth, percussions. Xavier: drum.

ESA:

ESA was born in 2002 in order to cross the threshold from one genre of extreme music to another. Engineer of this electronic inferno, Jamie Blacker, up until this point had been writing music semi-professionally for years in the UK Black / Death metal circle, touring and recording alongside some of the genres elite.

Having decided to experiment in dark electronics, ESA’s heavy, rhythmic style has since become rooted at the forefront of the harsh industrial / power electronics scene, predominantly owing to slews of powerful and engaging live shows all over the globe and 10 well received, critically acclaimed albums.

Taking influences initially from rhythmical noise acts, Blacker’s sound structures have developed and integrated countless influences from the broad spectrum of alternative and extreme music. The tone of ESA is harsh and oppressive, dripping with destructive and corroded grooves whilst still emanating deep melody and a strong sense of spirituality. ESA’s compositions are undoubtedly threatening and offensive floor stomping club tunes but also twist and churn enough to reward more attentive listening.
