Mortuary

review by Paul J Baio

As I continue down a rabbit hole of obscure Tobe Hooper films, his second to last is Mortuary. Released in 2005, Mortuary is a quirky horror comedy with impressive practical effects and schlocky CGI. To be honest the movie is shit, but it’s fun shit, and if you’re a Hooper fan there’s a lot to like. When a single mortician mom and her two kids take over a mortuary in a small rural town, an evil is awakened that reanimates the dead, and spreads like a virus among the living. Mortuary is best described as a dollar store Evil Dead with a dash of Re-Animator. You can watch it for free on Tubi.
