Andy said a lot of things, I stored them all away in my head
Sometimes when I can’t decide what I should do, I think what would Andy have said
He’d probably say “You think too much, that’s ’cause there’s work that you don’t want to do
It’s work, the most important thing is work
It’s work, the most important thing is work”
Lou Reed 1990 “Songs For Drella“
Who pulls the strings in this absurd theatre of pain?
Who wrote the script from which I read?
And who is in the audience watching
This immoral display of existence?
Who is it Im entertaining
And when will I get paid?
Do they laugh when I fall?
Do they clap when the curtain is closed?
Who will tell me when the show is over
And I can go home?

Hot, humid weather: Excessive Heat Warning in place for Chicago area
An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for the Chicago area for Wednesday and Thursday. Intense heat and humidity will cause potentially dangerous conditions. Peak afternoon heat indices of 108 to 113 degrees are expected.
Tomorrow GnR return to Wrigley Field. I am happy not to go for a LOT of reasons, however Amy is going and I feel for her. Hell I worry about her every day that she has to go down the the Mag Mile and work. I’m inside working. I only go out for ice around 7AM when Walgreens opens up in the morning. My AC has been on since around 130AM. I’m not going to be happy with my ComEd bill that’s for certain.
Max Bravo is attending The Jeff Givens Band at Ribfest Chicago with Greg Duncan and Alex Zander at Ribfest Chicago. “Gotta deal with this….”
On Saturday August 9th I was join by my fest friends Max Bravo and Greg Duncan and we took the short bus ride to Lincoln and Irving Park for RibFest where we went to see my friend Jeff Givens Band play again. The weather could not have been more perfect and or flasks were loaded for fun. And fun is exactly what we had.
It was great seeing my old friend Jim Mikolas for the first time in years. For a group of older dudes we sure know how to kick up our heels and make the best of it. Jeff and his band played a killer set as always.

Mid week I had won a spiff from work for exceeding a goal they set for us. It allowed me to order up top $120 in food delivery. I invited Amy who I hadn’t seen in too long. Actually I can never see enough of this amazing woman. The food is excellent and the weather was nice enough to sit outside on the porch and eat. She was kind enough to bring me a small bottle of Jameson.

BIKE O NEGATIVE
One of my favorite little streets in my neighborhood. All these years and I haven’t found my wife.
One of my favorite discoveries on 2023. This is the perfect beer for really hot sweaty summer days. Very salty and strong lime. Its refreshing,
Katrina is never far from me or under my feet
Anny the Watercat in one of her favorite spots in the Warhol Room
I baked cornbread for Nick Huffman’s mother to take to her at Nicks prayer service at his final resting place in Kankakee. I was returning the favor when she bakes my favorite cookies for me white chocolate macadamia nut which she mailed to me earlier in the year.

The shop being directly across from Emily’s studio I would definitely be on a first name basis with the staff. But as much as her kids go there, I don’t think she had ever been inside. She as in awe of all of the Betty Boob memorabilia. It certainly had that retro nostalgic feel that I embrace. Then fun family came in and it was time to leave.
At least I had some quality time with Emily on the ride there and back to talk and get caught up. Getting to see her daughter Zoe is always a treat and I gave them both owl rings.
After we made a second stop by Emily’s families place we stopped at Maureen Huffman’s amazing house and surroundings. There were a lot of nice people, lots of food. She opened a bottle of Silver Cabo Wabo for me and after about 90 minutes we were on the road back to Chicago.
I spent much of the week cooking at home. Lots of Cajun grub. And of course working. Creepy / Jeff Brown would be coming in a couple of days for FLASHBACK WEEKEND and I was looking forward to spending a few days with an old friend.
Somethings never change such as the CTA which I ride a whole lot less these days.
How anyone can eat on that nasty ass rails system astounds me.
Jeff came bearing gifts and I had some nice strip steaks and baked potatoes for dinner.
As Curse Mackey calls it. El Palmar is a Rite of Passage. This weekend would be no different.
They recently added a gigantic Margarita glass to their menu. My new standard.
I’ve never had French Fries at an authentic Mexican Restaurant before. It must be the grease they are cooked in because they are my latest addiction. I have them with nearly every meal.
Creepy goes well armed with an adjustable movie poster tube.
The whole reason I wanted to attend was to finally meet Rose McGowan who is a very sweet woman. Other than her and seeing Charles Band it wasn’t really worth it so after our cocktails we split.
I couldn’t believe she signed this which I’ve had since the movie debuted in 2007
She’s the GHOST with the most babe.
In the Hotel’s Red Bar Michelle made me 2 killer martini’s and shared some great stories of serving porn stars.
Jeff had picked me up a sign John Christ (ex DANZIG) CD for me in Indpls.
Once I getting settled in after my move next year and the studio is finished. I’ll be finding an older El Camino. I think Bob is more excited than I am about it.
And we lost Paul Reubens aka Pee Wee Herman. It hit hard for me and my friends who are children of then 80’s. Paul Reubens (/?ru?b?nz/; né Rubenfeld; August 27, 1952 – July 30, 2023)
Alex saves everything
On August 8th 2023 Jeff was my co host with the amazing Steve Zing (Samhain, Danzig, BLAK29, Mourning Noise, Son of Sam, The Undead) on the MKULTRASOUND PodCast.
