OUT TODAY! Goth Rock and Roll Band 616 Releases “Mourning”

Los Angeles, CA (Friday June 16th) – 616, a show-stopping goth rock and roll band releases its music video and single TODAY 6/16. The song “Mourning” speaks about the struggles of addiction and alcohol dependence, as well as falling in and out of love. This release speaks both to the pain you get with the absence of drugs and the similar feeling of pain you get when someone leaves you.

The song begins with powerful guitar riffs and ultimately layers in the raspy, anthemic vocals of lead singer Matthew Lidwin. The song leans into the painful and dark experience of drug addiction, both in its sound, as well as in its lyrics. With lines like, “We can save ourselves, this journey out of the black,” we are able to see the torment associated with drug dependence, yet we also see a silver lining, and possible glimmer of hope for those in need of help. This song serves as an anthem for those that want to make a change and are struggling to find hope in times of difficulty. Filmed at The Seminary in Lidwin’s hometown of Milwaukee, the music video hits close to home, and we get to see an intimate glimpse into his hometown life, as it was filmed with help from Lidwin’s dear friend and co-star Samantha Stern and videographer Eddie Curran.
For their new EP, 616 traveled to Memphis, TN in an ice storm to record at the legendary Sun Studios, where Lindin actually got to hold one of Elvis’s guitars (along with Johnny Cash’s). Alongside producer Eric LaBrosse and Daniel Crocket Hall, the group worked in the same room where so many legendary names in rock n’ roll made their start to create the “Living Dead Sessions” – which will be released on Friday June 16th as well.  .
