September 6, 2024 (Chicago, IL) \u2013 BEASTII<\/strong> drop new surf-punk single titled \u201cBe Sweet\u201d today HERE<\/a>. Their new studio album titled, Follower<\/em><\/strong>, is available worldwide HERE<\/a>. It\u2019s Bandcamp Friday<\/strong> which means the band gets 100% of the proceeds, a great incentive for fans to consider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBe Sweet\u201d presents a riddle of contradictions lyrically, enticing the listener to get off the fence and decide already a la The Clash: \u201cshould I stay or should I go?\u201d Or as Kyle Decker writes in his album review<\/a> \u201cIt\u2019s upbeat and the lyrics reference the complexities of healthy relationships.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the songs on Follower<\/em><\/strong> were written, performed, and produced by BEASTII<\/strong>, and recorded and mixed by Chris Lee<\/strong> at the VCR<\/strong> in Chicago, Illinois between January 2023 and March 2024. Lee has recorded hundreds of underground artists in Chicago, including notable acts such as Twin Peaks<\/strong>, Kenny Hoopla<\/strong>, Nnamdi<\/strong>, Show You Suck<\/strong>, Deeper<\/strong>, and Al Scorch<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BEASTII<\/strong>, founded by Jen Dot (aka Jen B. Larson, author of Hit Girls: Women of Punk in the USA, 1975-1983<\/strong> and former Swimsuit Addition guitarist and singer) in Chicago in 2016, cite influences such as Wire, Au Pairs, Pylon, Soft Cell, Joy Division, Kate Bush, the Breeder\u2019s, the B52\u2019s, Moebius & Beerbohm, and Devo. Dot recorded the initial EP, Love Harder<\/em>,<\/strong> over a few months, using a combination of live and electronic instruments. She had her friend, Chris Lee<\/strong>, master it.  For live sets Jen and Chris put together a high-energy four-piece, combining elements from early ’80s post-punk, ’60s surf and garage rock, and ’90s alternative and grunge. Maureen Neer<\/strong> (Soddy Daisy<\/strong> and Bloodhype<\/strong>) and Becca Nisbet<\/strong> (Swimsuit Addition<\/strong> and The Baby Magic<\/strong>) joined them on bass and guitar, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BEASTII <\/strong>will appeal to fans of The Hives<\/strong>, the Buzzcocks<\/strong>, Gang of Four<\/strong>, Wire<\/strong>, PJ Harvey<\/strong>, the Cramps<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n
