Raymond Watts <\/strong>a.k.a. <\/strong>PIG<\/strong><\/a> has released his new album ‘Red Room’<\/strong><\/a> on CD and digitally via Metropolis Records<\/strong><\/a> and on vinyl via Armalyte Industries<\/strong><\/a>, and will be bringing the album to life through the colossal <\/strong>\u2018Heroin For The Damned\u2019 tour<\/strong><\/a> with <\/strong>Curse Mackey<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>and Unitcode : Machine<\/strong><\/a>. The 40-date itinerary follows a headlining set at Cold Waves XII <\/strong>in Chicago on September 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the 2022 album \u2018The Merciless Light\u2019<\/strong>, \u2018Red Room\u2019 is the sound of Watts beating the hammer of hope on the anvil of despair. But, far from being the dying light of decay, this is a spark, an ember and a torch in transition, lighting up the house of PIG before Watts burns it up and blows it down, cutting through yhrscaly rind to PIG’s tender heart and soft underbelly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, PIG shared the thunderous intro track \u2018Crumbs Chaos & Lies\u2019<\/strong> <\/a>featuring <\/strong>Alexis Mincolla (3Teeth)<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>with a riveting video by the elusive visionary Ibex<\/strong>, and the lead track \u2018Dum Dum Bullet\u2019 <\/strong><\/a>with a penetrating video by E Gabriel Edvy<\/strong><\/a> for Blackswitch Labs<\/strong><\/a>. This anthem features a choir of iconic guests that include Chris Connelly (Revolting Cocks, Ministry), I Ya Toyah, En Esch (KMFDM), Emily Kavanaugh (Night Club), Chris Hall (Stabbing Westward), Burton C Bell (Fear Factory, Ascension of the Watchers) <\/strong>and Marc Heal (Cubanate)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watts co-wrote much of \u2018Red Room\u2019 with Jim Davies<\/strong><\/a> of Pitchshifter<\/strong>, best known for his acidic and acerbic guitar lines on many chart hits by The Prodigy<\/strong>. Other guests include Chris Hall (Stabbing Westward)<\/strong>, who delivers a soaring vocal performance on <\/strong>\u2018The Sick Man’s Prayer\u2019<\/strong><\/a>, Watts’ old KMFDM<\/strong> bandmate G\u00fcnther Schulz<\/strong><\/a> (a.k.a. ‘The Czar of Guitar’), who appears on the anthemic <\/strong>\u2018Dirty Mercy\u2019<\/strong><\/a>, and the great jazz trumpeter Enrico Tomasso<\/strong><\/a> (who has worked on and off with Watts for three decades), who brings his deft and delicate touch to \u2018PIG Is At The Window\u2019<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watts has had a stellar career since cutting his teeth in the mid-1980s industrial rock scene as a member of KMFDM<\/strong>. Apart from releasing 14 albums as PIG, he has toured with Nine Inch Nails<\/strong>, KMFDM and Einst\u00fcrzende Neubauten<\/strong>, written music for fashion and film (Chloe, Marios Schwab, Halston, The Row<\/strong>), and even did sound design for the exhibition ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’<\/strong> at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watts also collaborated with the late fashion icon Alexander McQueen<\/strong>, who commissioned him (with John Gosling<\/strong>) to embellish the serene instrumental track \u2018Inside\u2019 <\/strong>(from PIG’s 1999 album \u2018Genuine American Monster\u2019<\/strong>) for the soundtrack to \u2018Plato\u2019s Atlantis<\/strong>\u2019. The show was reprised after McQueen\u2019s untimely death in as the finale of \u2018Savage Beauty<\/strong>‘, a posthumous retrospective that broke all records at both The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Victoria & Albert Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Red Room’ is out now, available on CD and digitally from fine online platforms, including Apple Music<\/a>,<\/strong>Spotify<\/strong><\/a> and Bandcamp<\/strong><\/a>. On August 23, PIG will also re-release the seminal album ‘<\/a><\/strong>Sinsation (Remastered)’<\/strong><\/a>, originally released in the mid-1990s on Trent Reznor’s label Nothing Records. <\/p>\n\n\n
