During an appearance on the S**t Talk Reviews<\/strong> podcast, Johnny Kelly<\/strong> (TYPE O NEGATIVE<\/a><\/strong>, DANZIG<\/a><\/strong>, and QUIET RIOT<\/a><\/strong>) disclosed that he, along with Kenny Hickey<\/strong> and Josh Silver<\/strong> of TYPE O NEGATIVE<\/strong>, have teamed up with BLACK SABBATH<\/a><\/strong>\u2018s legendary drummer Bill Ward<\/strong> to record a tribute song for Peter Steele<\/strong>, who passed away from heart failure at the age of 48 in April 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked if he is friends with Bill Ward<\/strong> and when they last spoke, Kelly<\/strong> responds:  \u201cWhen did I speak to him last? I spoke to him\u2026 we text a lot. It was about a month ago. There was an article, a video came out from\u2026 I don\u2019t know if you\u2019re familiar with Drumeo, it\u2019s a drum website, you know, they do instruction videos, and they have subscription service and stuff, anyway they\u2019ve been putting together these documentaries of different drummers, and they did one on Bill Ward<\/strong>, and it was about 45 minutes long, and it was fantastic. It was really well put together. And I sent a link to Bill<\/strong>, and I was like, \u2018it\u2019s about damn time.’\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about whether he\u2019s ever been in the studio with Ward<\/strong>, Kelly<\/strong> reveals: \u201cYes, I\u2019ve recorded with him. He wrote a song a few years ago, he wrote it after Peter<\/strong> [Steele<\/strong>] died, and he wrote it as a tribute to Peter<\/strong>, and he got me, Kenny<\/strong>, and Josh<\/strong> to play on it. I don\u2019t know when it\u2019s coming out or anything like that. You know, Bill<\/strong> operates on his own plane, and he does his own thing. But yeah, it was cool. Kenny<\/strong> and I, we went out to L.A. for like five days or whatever, worked on the song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe best part of the whole experience was driving to and from the studio with Bill<\/strong>. We would sit there and trade war stories. Bill<\/strong> is actually a really big TYPE O<\/strong> fan, so he loved hearing the stories, with me and Kenny<\/strong> telling war stories, and stuff like that. And then Bill<\/strong> would say, \u2018Oh yeah, there was this one time\u2026\u2019 and just completely blow our minds.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
