According to Billboard<\/a>, the announcement of this year’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame<\/strong> inductees will be made Sunday night (April 21) on “American Idol”<\/strong>. The announcement will be delivered by host Ryan Seacrest<\/strong> and “Idol”<\/strong> judge Lionel Richie<\/strong>, who himself is a member of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ozzy Osbourne<\/strong>,\u00a0FOREIGNER<\/strong>,\u00a0JANE’S ADDICTION<\/strong>,\u00a0OASIS<\/strong>,\u00a0Peter Frampton<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Lenny Kravitz<\/strong>\u00a0are among the nominees for the\u00a0Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame<\/strong>‘s Class Of 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other nominees are\u00a0Mariah Carey<\/strong>,\u00a0Sinead O’Connor<\/strong>,\u00a0Cher<\/strong>, Sade,\u00a0Mary J. Blige<\/strong>,\u00a0A TRIBE CALLED QUEST<\/strong>,\u00a0DAVE MATTHEWS BAND<\/strong>,\u00a0Eric B. & Rakim<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0KOOL & THE GANG<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be eligible for this year’s ballot, each nominee’s first single or album had to have been released in 1999 or earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ozzy<\/strong>, along with the rest of the original lineup of BLACK SABBATH<\/strong>, was inducted into the Rock Hall<\/strong> in 2006, but the legendary heavy metal singer has yet to be recognized for his solo career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than four million votes were cast in the 2024\u00a0Rock Hall<\/strong>\u00a0fan vote since voting began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a “fans’ ballot” that will be tallied along with the other ballots to select the 2024 inductees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before this year’s fan vote closed last night, DAVE MATTHEWS BAND<\/strong> was leading, followed by Frampton<\/strong>, FOREIGNER<\/strong>, Osbourne<\/strong>, Cher<\/strong>, Kravitz<\/strong> and KOOL & THE GANG<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the April 21 episode of\u00a0“American Idol”<\/strong>,\u00a0KISS<\/strong>\u00a0bassist\/vocalist\u00a0Gene Simmons<\/strong>\u00a0will serve as a guest mentor for the top 14\u00a0“Idol”<\/strong>\u00a0contenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inductees will be determined by an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, historians, and members of the music industry, in addition to a fan vote on the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame<\/strong> web site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rock Hall<\/strong> induction ceremony will stream live on Disney+<\/strong>. It will also be available on Hulu<\/strong> following its premiere, and will also receive a special airing on ABC<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artists are eligible to be inducted into the\u00a0Rock Hall<\/strong>\u00a0after at least 25 years have passed since their first record was released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though artists are eligible for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame<\/strong> 25 years after the release of their first album or single, iconic hard rock and metal bands like IRON MAIDEN<\/strong> and MOT\u00d6RHEAD<\/strong> have yet to be recognized by the institution, which inducted GUNS N’ ROSES<\/strong> in that group’s first year of eligibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rock Hall<\/strong> rules state that artists become eligible a quarter century after their first records were released, but the Hall<\/strong> also claims that other “criteria include the influence and significance of the artists’ contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock ‘n’ roll,” which is, of course, open to interpretation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eligible for induction since 1999,\u00a0KISS<\/strong>\u00a0didn’t get its first nomination until 2009, and was finally inducted in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DEEP PURPLE<\/strong> was eligible for the Rock Hall<\/strong> since 1993 but didn’t get inducted until 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JUDAS PRIEST<\/strong> received the Musical Excellence Award at the 2022 Rock Hall<\/strong> event, which honored Eminem<\/strong>, Dolly Parton<\/strong>, DURAN DURAN<\/strong>, Lionel Richie<\/strong>, Pat Benatar<\/strong>, EURYTHMICS<\/strong> and Carly Simon<\/strong> in the Performers category.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
