New Amsterdam Entertainment Inc.\u00ae<\/strong>\u00a0is proud to announce\u00a0George A. Romero\u2019s ‘Dawn of the Dead’<\/strong>\u00a0will be celebrating the\u00a045th Anniversary<\/strong>\u00a0of its North American debut with a blow-out celebration event! The definitive zombie classic returns to both\u00a0Theatres<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Drive-Ins<\/strong>\u00a0for screenings across the\u00a0U.S.<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Canada,<\/strong>\u00a0with most theaters welcoming the film back to the big screen starting at midnight tonight, April 12! In addition, there are\u00a0very special official anniversary collectables coming from FRIGHT-RAGS and ISH! The previously announced big-screen return has updated and revised the listings, which can be found at\u00a0THIS LOCATION<\/a>.

The North American gala premiere of ‘Dawn of the Dead’ took place on April 12, 1979 at the Gateway Theatre in downtown Pittsburgh. The film began the official U.S. theatrical launch the following day, eventually rolling out across the country.\u00a0To honor this special milestone, New Amsterdam Entertainment Inc.\u00ae is making the movie available again in theatres & drive-ins for coast-to-coast screenings starting April 12, 2024 and running through to the end of May! Hitting over 90 screens across North America, Independent Theatres and Drive-Ins have joined the celebration. While some will only host one exclusive screening event, others will have multiple showings throughout April and May.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
With special assistance from\u00a0United Drive-In Theatre Owners Association<\/strong>, for the first time in decades, many fans will be able to watch ‘Dawn of the Dead’ under the stars at several ozoners like the classic\u00a0Midway Drive-In<\/strong>\u00a0in Sterling, IL, and at a special\u00a0Exhumed Films<\/strong>\u00a0event at the world famous\u00a0Mahoning Drive-In<\/strong>\u00a0in Lehighton, PA!

The mighty\u00a0Alamo Drafthouse<\/strong>\u00a0will be fulfilling thousands of audience requests by unleashing it into 34 of their cinemas across the country and die-hard fans will\u00a0finally<\/em>\u00a0be able to again watch the movie in its premiere city of\u00a0Pittsburgh<\/strong>, this time at the\u00a0Row House Theatre!\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The film will be screened all across North America in historical venues including places like the\u00a0Colonial Theater\u00a0<\/strong>in\u00a0Phoenixville, PA,\u00a0<\/strong>where the\u00a0original version of ‘The Blob’ was filmed in 1958!<\/strong>\u00a0

Meanwhile,\u00a0The Music Box Theatre<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0Chicago\u00a0<\/strong>will present special single showings of both the\u00a02-D and 3-D editions\u00a0<\/strong>later in May!\u00a0Stereoscopic fans will also be able to catch it in\u00a03-D\u00a0<\/strong>at the\u00a0Galleria Mall\u00a0<\/strong>in\u00a0St. Louis, MO<\/strong>, where hopefully they won’t have to hunker down to survive a zombie apocalypse!\u00a0St. Louis is not the only city that is taking the film back to its primary setting; through special arrangement,\u00a0Cinemark Theatres<\/strong>\u00a0will be exclusively presenting ‘Dawn of the Dead’ for One-Night-Only on Friday April 12th…at\u00a0the\u00a0MONROEVILLE MALL!\u00a0<\/strong>

There\u2019s no more room in Hell and the Dead are finally returning…to Canada!<\/em><\/strong>

It\u2019s going to be a zombie-rollicking good time across the States, and Canada need not worry!\u00a0For horror fans up North, decades worth of scary prayers are about to be answered with big screen showings of the original theatrical edition, Romero’s official final Director’s Cut, at\u00a0Independent Canadian Movie Houses and Festivals<\/strong>\u00a0in 2-D as it first played in 1979.\u00a0Plus, over 15 years after producer Richard P. Rubinstein first announced it was happening,\u00a0on April 12th, the genuinely excellent\u00a03-D conversion of George A. Romero\u2019s ‘Dawn of the Dead’ will finally make its Canadian premier at the\u00a0Cin\u00e9ma Du Parc Theatre\u00a0in Montreal<\/strong>!\u00a0<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
