The legendary \u201cPulp of Trash,\u201d John Waters<\/strong> hasn\u2019t directed a feature film since A Dirty Shame<\/em><\/a> back in 2004, but The Guardian<\/a> reports this week that the Pink Flamingos, Hairspray<\/em>, and Serial Mom<\/em> director will soon be making a long-awaited return with a brand new movie!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Guardian reports this morning, \u201cHairspray<\/em> director John Waters is about to start production on his first feature film for 20 years, with Aubrey Plaza<\/strong> as the lead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film is titled Liarmouth<\/em><\/strong>, an adaptation of Waters\u2019 same titled novel from 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liarmouth<\/em>\u00a0is \u201ca feel-bad romance,\u201d with the novel billing it as \u201ca\u00a0hilariously filthy tale of sex, crime, and family dysfunction from the brilliantly twisted mind of John Waters.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLiarmouth<\/em> centers on a scammer and compulsive liar called Marsha Sprinkle who splits from her partner Daryl and steals from both her daughter and her mother.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The full synopsis for the book digs a bit further into the storyline: \u201cMarsha Sprinkle: Suitcase thief. Scammer. Master of disguise. Dogs and children hate her. Her own family wants her dead. She\u2019s smart, she\u2019s desperate, she\u2019s disturbed, and she\u2019s on the run with a big chip on her shoulder. They call her Liarmouth\u2014until one insane man makes her tell the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liarmouth<\/em> was the first novel from John Waters, and you can grab a copy now<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a related note, we learned recently that John Waters will return to the Child\u2019s Play<\/em> franchise<\/a> in this year\u2019s \u201cChucky Season 3: Part 2,\u201d playing the creator of the Good Guys doll!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
