In a new interview with Terrie Carr<\/strong> of the Morristown, New Jersey radio station 105.5 WDHA<\/strong>, Ace Frehley<\/strong> has confirmed plans to work on “Origins Vol. 3”<\/strong>, the sequel to Ace<\/strong>‘s 2016 and 2020 collections of cover songs that inspired the former KISS<\/strong> guitarist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ace<\/strong>\u00a0said (as transcribed by\u00a0BLABBERMOUTH.NET<\/strong>): “We can get some great guest stars and pick some really great songs I haven’t done. Because remember, in the late ’60s and early ’70s, there was so many great songs.\u00a0Lita Ford<\/strong>\u00a0called me up the other day; she wants to be involved again. I’ve gotta give\u00a0Slash<\/strong>\u00a0a call. That’s all I can say at the moment\u2026\u00a0‘Origins Vol. 3’<\/strong>\u00a0is gonna be the next release.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Released in September 2020,\u00a0“Origins Vol. 2”<\/strong>\u00a0featured cover versions of\u00a0THE BEATLES<\/strong>‘\u00a0“I’m Down”<\/strong>,\u00a0DEEP PURPLE<\/strong>‘s\u00a0“Space Truckin'”<\/strong>,\u00a0LED ZEPPELIN<\/strong>‘s\u00a0“Good Times Bad Times”<\/strong>,\u00a0THE ROLLING STONES<\/strong>‘\u00a0“Jumpin’ Jack Flash”<\/strong>,\u00a0THE KINKS<\/strong>‘\u00a0“Lola”<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE<\/strong>‘s\u00a0“Manic Depression”<\/strong>, among others. A cover of the 1975\u00a0KISS<\/strong>\u00a0tune\u00a0“She”<\/strong>\u00a0also appeared as a bonus track. Guests on the set included\u00a0CHEAP TRICK<\/strong>‘s\u00a0Robin Zander<\/strong>,\u00a0Lita Ford<\/strong>\u00a0and former\u00a0KISS<\/strong>\u00a0guitarist\u00a0Bruce Kulick<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Released in April 2016, “Origins Vol. 1”<\/strong> debuted at No. 23 on The Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 16,000 equivalent album units. The CD featured KISS<\/strong> frontman Paul Stanley<\/strong> joining Ace<\/strong> on FREE<\/strong>‘s hit “Fire And Water”<\/strong>, Slash<\/strong> trading leads on THIN LIZZY<\/strong>‘s classic “Emerald”<\/strong>, Ford<\/strong> singing and playing lead on THE TROGGS<\/strong> staple “Wild Thing”<\/strong>, then-ROB ZOMBIE<\/strong> guitarist John 5<\/strong> playing guitar alongside Ace<\/strong> on the classic KISS<\/strong> composition “Parasite”<\/strong>, and PEARL JAM<\/strong>‘s Mike McCready<\/strong> playing guitar with Ace<\/strong> on KISS<\/strong>‘s “Cold Gin”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a 2016 interview with The Aquarian Weekly<\/strong>, Frehley<\/strong> admitted that doing the first covers album was “the record company’s idea. To be honest with you, initially, I wasn’t that excited about the project, because I had just come off the high of the success of ‘Space Invader’<\/strong>, which is all originals except for a cover of ‘The Joker’<\/strong>,” he said. “It was almost, like, ‘Okay, I’m going to go through the motions and get this out of the way and then jump into the studio for my next real studio album.’ But I’ve gotta tell ya, man, once I started the process and started remembering the groups that influenced me, narrowing down which songs I thought were going to be best for the record, and then started the recording process; I really started getting more excited about it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ace<\/strong>\u00a0will release his new solo album,\u00a0“10,000 Volts”<\/strong>, on February 23, 2024 via\u00a0MNRK Music Group<\/strong>\u00a0(formerly\u00a0eOne Music<\/strong>). The official music video for the LP’s title track \u2014 directed by\u00a0Alex Kouvatsos<\/strong>\u00a0from\u00a0Black Wolf Imaging<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 was released in late November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ace<\/strong>‘s next all-original album will be the follow-up to “Spaceman”<\/strong>, which was released in October 2018 via eOne<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KISS<\/strong> bassist\/vocalist Gene Simmons<\/strong> co-wrote two tracks on “Spaceman”<\/strong>, “Without You I’m Nothing”<\/strong> and “Your Wish Is My Command”<\/strong>, the latter of which also features Gene<\/strong>‘s bass playing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
