Los Angeles, CA \u2013 As preparations were being made for the release of his masterful new solo album, the opportunity presented itself to Jah Wobble to fly to the U.S. and collaborate with highly in-demand visual artist and music video director Vicente Cordero of Industrialism Films on a triptych of videos that would serve to enhance the album\u2019s socio-politcal themes. The first of this trilogy, \u201cLast Exit,\u201d filmed on a Hollywood soundstage to imitate a local news desk, was released in July, while the second installment \u201cI Am, I Am, I Am\u201d took Wobble deep into the Mojave desert and saw release on the same day the album dropped earlier this month. Today, the final installment arrives, the magnificent title track that completes the trilogy and crafts a suitably sardonic yet sincere coda to the album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Set to one of the album\u2019s catchiest, most danceable tracks, the \u201cA Brief History Of Now\u201d video sets up a poignant and profound contrast between the ebullient, seemingly carefree performance footage of Wobble and the harsh reality of immigrant populations in wealthy nations as they struggle for recognition and civil rights. The contrast is intentionally disruptive, highlighting a deadly serious social problem and the calloused response from a world too distracted by its own flashing neon lights. The song also highlights the increasing disparity between the haves and have nots in our society, and especially the plight of the homeless. It\u2019s a theme that permeates the\u00a0A Brief History Of Now<\/em>\u00a0album, which coats its social commentary in some of the most memorable songs of Wobble\u2019s illustrious career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
