The band\u2019s sound skilfully brings together elements of ethereal gothic dreampop, new wave, post-punk, and modern dark alternative rock. Formed on the approaches to 2020, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/utmmusic.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a0a668707fd79de0d56e08772&amp;id=dac620768a&amp;e=28b14f177e\" target=\"_blank\">After the Flesh<\/a> showcases the talents of Slovenian-born vocalist and keyboardist <strong>Maru\u0161a Sagadin<\/strong> (\u201cMarusha\u201d); guitarist and vocalist <strong>Alec Morris<\/strong>; veteran local bassist <strong>Duncan Nairn<\/strong>; and later addition <strong>Sam Leamy<\/strong> on drums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"nv-iframe-embed\"><iframe title=\"After The Flesh - Changeling (Official Video)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Vy2j03lZrrY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>The new \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/utmmusic.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a0a668707fd79de0d56e08772&amp;id=423b92caf9&amp;e=28b14f177e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Changeling<\/a>\u2019 video is filmed and directed by <strong>Martin Sagadin<\/strong> (sibling of Maru\u0161a), who explains:<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\u201c<em>After the Flesh asked me to do a video after we did a photo shoot at the P?tangirua Pinnacles, where we were in the harsh daylight among the cliffs. We decided the next project would be very glamorous, dramatic and interior, layered in plastic and projection, while paying tribute to some of our favourite New Wave music videos\u2026<\/em>\u201d<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>Bandmates Duncan Nairn and Alec Morris shed further light on the creative process behind \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/utmmusic.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a0a668707fd79de0d56e08772&amp;id=42b04d198a&amp;e=28b14f177e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Changeling<\/a>\u2019:<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Duncan<\/strong>: \u201c<em>\u2026we wrote the bare bones of the songs from the EP in early 2020 during a very productive jam session, just before the world came crashing down. If memory serves, I wrote the bassline for \u2018Changeling\u2019 on a synthesiser! It&#8217;s an unusual song for us, because it\u2019s linear in its progression, and nothing&nbsp;repeats itself.<\/em>\u201d<br><strong>Alec<\/strong>: \u201c<em>The music came from a big jam we recorded, which I then edited and wrote the lyrics for. I was writing with Marusha in mind, given that she would be the one singing&#8230; She was talking a lot at that time about upping sticks and leaving town, but something was stopping her. The song is kind of about the anxiety before you take action. There\u2019s an angel and a devil on either side, and you don\u2019t know which one is right. My mind ended up wandering to things like the Pleasure Island from Pinocchio, which became a motif in the video.
