Dee Snider<\/strong> spoke to Fox News Digital<\/a> about refusing to “fold” to cancel culture after the TWISTED SISTER<\/strong> singer voiced his support for Paul Stanley<\/strong>‘s controversial comments criticizing gender-affirming healthcare for children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Francisco Pride<\/strong>, which is scheduled to take place June 24-25, was about to announce\u00a0TWISTED SISTER<\/strong>‘s 1980s classic\u00a0“We’re Not Gonna Take It”<\/strong>\u00a0as the official anthem of its 2023 celebration and\u00a0Snider<\/strong>\u00a0had been set to perform. However, those plans quickly came to an end after\u00a0Snider<\/strong>\u00a0shared his support for the\u00a0KISS<\/strong>\u00a0frontman’s views that “normalizing” sex reassignment for children is a “sad and dangerous fad.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You don’t have to cave, you don’t have to apologize if you did nothing wrong,” Snider<\/strong> told Fox News Digital<\/strong> on Saturday (June 17). “If you did something wrong, you know? If you did something wrong, you raped a woman, yeah, you gotta do more than apologize, but at the same time, that’s not something you stand strong about. But if you have a position and a belief and people come at you for it, everybody is folding.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Snider<\/strong> also brought up the fact that drag icon RuPaul<\/strong> supposedly caved in to pressure from some in the LGBTQ community earlier this year. Dee<\/strong> said: “The same time my thing was going, RuPaul<\/strong> was apologizing ’cause he said he wouldn’t have trans women on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’<\/strong>. And he apologized and took it back cause they freaked out.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The singer said that he was confused by RuPaul<\/strong>‘s decision to apologize, saying: “Well what’s wrong with that statement? it’s called the ‘Drag Race’<\/strong>. Dressing in drag is men dressing as women \u2014 now we’re accepting that you’re a woman, so a woman dressing as a woman? That’s not a trick.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Circling back to the KISS<\/strong> frontman’s apology, Dee<\/strong> said: “People are so quick to apologize when they’ve done nothing wrong. And Paul<\/strong> immediately apologized and he didn’t say anything wrong. You know, and he took back his words, and I won’t do it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I wasn’t kidding when I wrote, ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’<\/strong>. I wasn’t kidding. I’m that guy and I will always be that guy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, Snider<\/strong> told “The Chuck Shute Podcast”<\/a> about the cancelation of his planned performance at San Francisco Pride<\/strong>: “They tried to cancel me because I didn’t see one hundred percent eye-to-eye with the community that wanted me to be the grand marshal of their parade, with the community that I’ve stood with and fought for for decades,” he continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As a parent, I disagreed with children’s ability to make cognizant decisions at the age of five, six and seven. I have four children, and I soon will have \u2014 any minute, by the way \u2014 my fifth grandchild, and in my learned opinion, they are not<\/em> capable. And they were, like, ‘canceled’ \u2014 not just the show, but they went after me and called me transphobic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’m a hell of a writer,” Snider<\/strong> added. “You’ve read my book. You know my speech in Washington. I broke out the pen, which is mightier than the sword, and I posted it on Facebook<\/strong>\u2026 You can go [to my Facebook<\/strong> page] and see what I said, although it was pretty covered in the media. And whereas Paul Stanley<\/strong> apologized, I’m not apologizing. Not when I did nothing wrong. I’m the first to apologize when I screw up. And I just laid it out. And [there were] a couple of peeps here and there, ‘Dee<\/strong>‘s whining.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You’re not canceling me. You’re not shutting me up. And the big point was that community \u2014 the LGBTQIA+ community, and whatever letters we’re adding \u2014 they need the support of not just the people who agree with them one hundred percent, they need the support of the middle, and that’s where most of us are. [They need] the people of the middle to accept them and recognize their rights and who they are. But that does not mean we have to \u2014 I use the word ‘fealty’ \u2014 fealty and bow down to every little thing they say. Who agrees with every single detail of what anybody<\/em> says? So I just pushed back on it. Everybody backed off. They were shocked. ‘Cause most people just apologize or curl up in a fetal position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I wasn’t kidding when I wrote ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’<\/strong>\u2026 You’re gonna go after the guy who wrote ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’<\/strong>?” Snider<\/strong> said. “And they were gonna use my song, too, as their battle cry. Why? Because it’s that defiant. And I have lived by my words. There’s nothing<\/em> that’s changed with me. I’m not saying I haven’t grown and improved \u2014 my wife says, ‘You’re always trying to be better’; I am, and I’m a better man \u2014 but my basic belief system has never changed, and I still stand and believe in everything I’ve always stood [for] and believed [in]. So don’t come after me. I’m the worst person to come after, ’cause I’ll come back after you.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When San Francisco Pride<\/strong> announced the cancelation of Snider<\/strong>‘s performance, it said in a statement, “Ultimately SF Pride<\/strong> and Dee<\/strong> have mutually agreed to part ways,” and added that Stanley<\/strong>‘s tweet was “transphobic.” It also said that the organization was “heartbroken and angry.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On May 5, Snider<\/strong> released the following statement via social media: “So, I hear I’m transphobic. Really?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Why did the San Francisco Gay Pride Parade invite me, Dee Snider<\/strong> to be a Grand Marshal in their parade and sing ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’<\/strong> on the center stage at what could possibly be the most important LGBTQIA+ gathering in the organization’s long history. To quote Joe Garofoli<\/strong>, San Francisco Chronicle<\/strong>‘s senior political writer, ‘… Dee Snider<\/strong> [is] a longtime supporter of LGBTQ rights…’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I have ALWAYS stood with the community and its important causes. I was honored to accept the San Francisco Gay Pride Parade’s invitation and I even gave my blessing for ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’<\/strong> to be used as this year’s battle cry [‘Queer Not Gonna Take It!’).”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Is that transphobic?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I was not aware the Transgender community expects\u00a0fealty<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0total agreement<\/em>\u00a0with\u00a0all<\/em>\u00a0their beliefs and\u00a0any<\/em>\u00a0variation or deviation is considered ‘transphobic.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“So, my lifetime of supporting the Transgender community’s right to identify as they want and honoring whatever changes they may make in how they present themselves to the world isn’t enough? Why not?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’ve recently stated I do not believe young children are ready to decide their gender allocation. I believe their choices should be<\/em> supported and accepted by their parents, but I do not think kids have the mental capabilities to make rational, logical decisions on things of a magnitude that will affect them for the rest of their lives. I do not believe they are mentally developed enough.<\/em>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Dr. Jennifer Katzenstein<\/strong> [director of psychology, neuropsychology and social work, and co-director of the Center for Behavioral Health at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital] says, ‘…it is important for parents to remember that development varies across children, and that one age (such as age 7) is not the end of development, or a ‘deadline for developing reasoning skills.’ Cognitive development continues into adulthood, and as parents, it is our responsibility to continue to challenge and support our children.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Well said. It’s just good parenting.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I am a proud moderate. I drive a Tesla and<\/em> a Hummer. I have too many<\/em> guns but strongly support intelligent gun control. I have four children yet fight for a woman’s right to choose. I am a motorcycle riding environmentalist. I am a heterosexual who proudly supports LBGTQIA+ rights. To me (and I believe to many of you<\/em>) none of these things are mutually exclusive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Transgender community needs moderates who support their choices, even if we don’t agree with every one of their edicts. For some Transgender people (not all<\/em>) to accuse supporters, like me, of transphobia is not a good look for their cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Don’t reject people who are willing to march, sing and stand with you just because we don’t perfectly see eye-to-eye. We are still your allies.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I, Dee Snider<\/strong>, will continue<\/em> to support the Transgender community and their right to choose even if they reject me and moving forward, I am open to educating myself so I can be a better ally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sincerely, Dee Snider<\/strong>, your cisgender, crossdressing ally.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In late April, Stanley<\/strong> took to his Twitter<\/strong> to weigh in on kids’ gender identities and the parents who are “normalizing and even encouraging participation” in embracing them, calling it a “sad and dangerous fad.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 71-year-old rocker made his comments as politicians in several states have attempted to restrict trans Americans’ ability to seek gender-affirming medical treatments. In some states, such as Georgia and Tennessee, bans for minors have already been enacted in the first quarter of 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 30, Paul<\/strong> shared the following statement: “My Thoughts On What I’m Seeing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There is a BIG difference between teaching acceptance and normalizing and even encouraging participation in a lifestyle that confuses young children into questioning their sexual identification as though some sort of game and then parents in some cases allow it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There ARE individuals who as adults may decide reassignment is their needed choice but turning this into a game or parents normalizing it as some sort of natural alternative or believing that because a little boy likes to play dress up in his sister’s clothes or a girl in her brother’s, we should lead them steps further down a path that’s far from the innocence of what they are doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With many children who have no real sense of sexuality or sexual experiences caught up in the ‘fun’ of using pronouns and saying what they identify as, some adults mistakenly confuse teaching acceptance with normalizing and encouraging a situation that has been a struggle for those truly affected and have turned it into a sad and dangerous fad.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the people who reacted positively to Stanley<\/strong>‘s statement was Snider<\/strong>, who has been a longtime ally of the LGBTQ+ community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You know what? There was a time where I ‘felt pretty’ too,” Snider<\/strong> tweeted to Stanley<\/strong>. “Glad my parents didn’t jump to any rash conclusions!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Snider<\/strong> continued: “Parents need to be less reactionary; Right and Left. No need to steer the child in either direction. Let the kid figure it out for themselves knowing their family is supportive. I had a vet\/cop hardass dad who, while he shook his head A LOT\u2026let me do my thing.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When a fan questioned Snider<\/strong>‘s comments, the singer said: “I guess I’ll just need to turn in my LGBTQIA+ membership card\u2026oh wait! I’m gonna need it in a big way TBA,” apparently referring to the then-still-unannounced San Francisco Pride<\/strong> performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2021, about 42,000 children and teens across the United States received a diagnosis of gender dysphoria, nearly triple the number in 2017, according to data Komodo<\/strong> compiled for Reuters<\/strong>. Gender dysphoria is defined as the distress caused by a discrepancy between a person’s gender identity and the one assigned to them at birth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transgender is a broad term for people whose “gender identity, gender expression or behavior does not conform to that typically associated with the sex to which they were assigned at birth,” according to the American Psychological Association<\/strong> (APA<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a recent survey from The Washington Post<\/strong> and Kaiser Family Foundation<\/strong>, 78% of transgender adults in the United States say living with a gender different from the one assigned to them at birth has made them more satisfied with their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April, outspoken conservative rocker Ted Nugent<\/strong> shared a tweet<\/a> in which he denounced the existence of transgender people and told people they could “debate” him if they disagreed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There is no such thing as transgender. You cannot change your gender. Comfortably numb is actually uncomfortably dumb. Debate me but bring your bib,” he wrote.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
