{"id":3549,"date":"2023-06-02T13:20:28","date_gmt":"2023-06-02T18:20:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mkultramagazine.com\/?p=3549"},"modified":"2023-06-02T13:20:30","modified_gmt":"2023-06-02T18:20:30","slug":"alicia-witt-debuts-new-single-clever-mind-an-attempt-to-find-forgiveness-for-the-other-woman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mkultramagazine.com\/?p=3549","title":{"rendered":"Alicia Witt Debuts New Single &#8216;Clever Mind&#8217; \u2014 an &#8216;Attempt to Find Forgiveness&#8217; for the Other Woman"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mkultramagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/A-ALICCIA-WITT-CLEVER.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3550\" width=\"470\" height=\"452\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SOURCE: People Magazine By Kimberlee Speakman<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alicia Witt is showing off her &#8220;Clever Mind.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The actress, pianist and singer gave some new details on what inspired her new single, which is set to be released Friday from her upcoming EP Witness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"nv-iframe-embed\"><iframe title=\"Clever Mind - Alicia Witt (People.com Exclusive)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4PR1YaMxyiw?start=2&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Clever Mind&#8221; is a special one for Witt, as it was the only song on her new EP that she had written years ago alongside &#8220;I Hope You Dance&#8221; songwriter Tia Sillers and her late husband Mark Selby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Describing the song as an &#8220;attempt to find forgiveness and understanding&#8221; for the other woman in a relationship she once had, Witt said she wanted to illustrate all the emotions that a woman in that situation may have felt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;[The song] is about the pain of falling in love with someone who isn&#8217;t available \u2014 tumbling down a rabbit hole of desperation to believe they\u2019re going to leave their relationship for you; and knowing you have only yourself to blame,&#8221; Witt, 47, explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I wrote this song from the imagined perspective of the &#8216;other woman&#8217; in a relationship I&#8217;d been in. Imagining how lonely it must have been for her \u2014 knowing that as painful as it had been for me, learning my partner had been unfaithful, it must have been even more painful for her. This song helped me to find forgiveness and even empathy for her,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many of the lyrics echo these sentiments as she sings over a piano and guitar tune. The song is the second song from her latest EP after the title track &#8220;Witness&#8221; released in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Witt previously found success with her single &#8220;Chasing Shadows&#8221; from her album The Conduit which spent more than a month on Billboard&#8217;s AC chart in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to PEOPLE about what the single&#8217;s success meant to her in 2021, Witt said she had &#8220;no words&#8221; for the accomplishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;To have been in the top 30 for five weeks, to know that this song I made up is being heard on the radio to that extent, it&#8217;s a deep, deep glow,&#8221; she told PEOPLE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It&#8217;s just something I will forever be so proud of.
