L.A. Guns<\/strong> founder and guitarist Tracii Guns<\/strong> was recently interviewed by Andrew Daly<\/strong> for Metal Edge Mag<\/strong><\/a>. Guns<\/strong> was promoting L.A. Guns<\/strong>\u2018 upcoming studio album Black Diamonds<\/em><\/a>, which will be released via Frontiers Music Srl<\/strong> on April 14, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, Guns<\/strong> has collaborated with a number of other artists including with Nikki Sixx<\/strong> in Brides of Destruction<\/strong>, with Poison<\/strong> drummer Rikki Rockett<\/strong> in Devil City Angels<\/strong> and with Stryper<\/strong> frontman Michael Sweet<\/strong> in SunBomb<\/strong>. Guns<\/strong> apparently has a new album recorded with Todd Kerns<\/strong> (Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators<\/strong>, Bruce Kulick Band<\/strong>, Heroes & Monsters<\/strong>) on vocals, which will be coming out in the fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daly<\/strong> commented that it\u2019s not a stretch to say that Black Diamonds<\/em> holds up to L.A. Guns<\/strong>\u2018 previous classic records to which Guns<\/strong> added (with slight edits):r<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI see this record as a bookend. I\u2019ve got this other record that comes out in the fall with Todd Kerns<\/strong> on one end, and now this record that\u2019s holding the whole thing together on the other side of that. I honestly think that Black Diamonds<\/em> is one of the best things I\u2019ve ever recorded in my life, man. I truly do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like I said, I recorded another record with Todd Kerns<\/strong> at exactly the same time I recorded this one. I see them as parts one and two, which everyone will understand when they hear the other record. They\u2019re like an extension of one another, except Todd<\/strong> is singing on one, and Phil<\/strong> [Lewis<\/strong>] is singing on the other. Adam<\/strong> [Hamilton<\/strong>] plays drums on both, so in some ways, they\u2019re very interchangeable musically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so, for me right now, those two records are like crack. It\u2019s all I can listen to. I put on some of my favorite shit, and I\u2019m like, \u201cYeah, that\u2019s cool. But man, I gotta hear these two records right now.\u201d There\u2019s a slow blues jam on the Todd Kerns<\/strong> record, and I don\u2019t know where I pulled this shit from, but it\u2019s the best guitar solo I\u2019ve ever played. I can\u2019t even come close anywhere else. It\u2019s that special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t even remember doing any of it. That\u2019s the crazy thing, man, I did it, and then I walked out of the room to the balcony, smoked a bunch of cigarettes, and then I\u2019d go on to the next track. I don\u2019t think about anything until I start getting mixes back, and then I\u2019m like, \u201cWhoa, fuck, that\u2019s great.\u201d We don\u2019t rehearse this shit every morning. I just write it and record it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
