What I saw from inside the tour bus.

I toured America with Pigface, the industrial music collective run by drummer and ringmaster Martin Atkins, across 42 cities with a dozen musicians from around the world. Over the years the revolving lineup included Trent Reznor, Genesis P-Orridge, Danny Carey of Tool, Nivek Ogre of Skinny Puppy and Taime Downe of Faster Pussycat. With Russell Brand’s trial at Southwark Crown Court in the news, I look back at the fame, hero worship and excess I saw first hand, and ask why we keep putting celebrities on pedestals.

In this monologue:

How I landed in Pigface, picked up at O’Hare by Martin Atkins of Invisible Records, a drummer who came up through Public Image Ltd, Ministry and Killing Joke.

What it feels like to sing over the rhythm section of Martin Atkins and Charles “Chooch” Levi
The tour bus: the goodbyes outside, and what changed when the doors closed “Did my boy behave?” and the question I was asked at the end of a tour Rock and roll culture before the Me Too movement, and how people misread each other. Celebrity as a hall of mirrors, and the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain. Why we keep giving power to the people we worship.

Please note: Russell Brand has pleaded not guilty and denies all allegations. This video is not about his guilt or innocence. It’s a personal reflection on rock and roll culture, based only on my own experiences touring with Pigface. The musicians named above are mentioned only as members of the Pigface lineup, and nothing in this video suggests any of them behaved improperly.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Meg Lee Chin is a Taiwanese American singer, songwriter, sound engineer and video producer.

She is known as an early pioneer of the home studio revolution and female-produced music.
